REASON: Off-topic COMMENT: A tarantula wasp is a parasitic wasp known for its gruesome reproductive method: the female lays an egg on the tarantula’s abdomen, and when the egg hatches, the larva feeds on the still-living but paralyzed spider, eventually killing it as it matures. This macabre process sets the tone for the film, which mirrors the darkness of the act itself. "The Wasp" is a gripping tale with intricately twisted plots that unfold over its 90-minute runtime. The story reveals itself layer by layer, growing darker with each passing minute. With a stellar cast and numerous shocking moments, the film keeps viewers on edge throughout. The production design stands out for its pastel color palette and evokes a Jordan Peele-esque atmosphere, particularly in scenes featuring small, confined spaces. The film, adapted from a play, clearly reflects its theatrical origins with its focus on just two characters engaging in intense interaction. The story and writing are compelling, and the film steadily improves as it progresses.

In the initial minutes of Huda's Salon, a woman enters a salon to get her hair cut and something happens so surprising and shocking. The film centers around the 3 people in Salon and how each one handles the situation. The director Abu-Assad is focused on the progression of scenes, there is no idle chit-chat or drifting off topic. The film is set in Bethlehem. The woman who owns the salon, Huda, is collaborating secretly with the Israeli Occupation forces, informing on her own people, giving up the whereabouts of individuals being sought. The narrative explores how she goes about collecting information and the extent she is willing to go for information. Most of the film, and the most interesting are scenes of Huda and the operative questioning her. Huda is a force to be reckoned, she plays a cat and mouse game, trying to avoid giving the information to this person - knowing she will be killed if she does. The movie is well paced and keeps your attention. Graphic nudity and subtitles are in English.
