Watched it. In a year of upheaval and chaos in and around the Promised Land, films like The Attack remind us there are humans on both sides of the conflict. The film is a personal exploration concerning terrorism and the motivating factors behind such acts. It is also a love story with thick threads of betrayal. As the story progresses and the madness unravels we find ourselves asking “why?” The film is impactful, It's a compelling examination of gender, fanaticism, and conviction. Suliman’s performance is very strong, very charismatic. He knows how to wield his craft. He captures his character's relatability and humanity. His meticulous portrayal of a physician caught in a twisted web of deceit on one side and the needless suffering of his patients on the other draws us in. The film is worthy of a watch. |
getting downvoted for liking a movie. No other possible reason than straight up racism. They'll all go download the new Hunger Games and then cry politics when the real thing is in their face |
Showcasing or keeping continuity of relevance of some films that aren't well received across the world that should be is great, but simply focusing on films that are a blend of both propaganda and reality at this point of time as a means of messaging isn't going to make any real-life changes, all it does is orienting some to it or making some feel disgusted at the attempt to drive certain messages. |
