Not a very good movie, definitely not worth the hype. I watched it and the story is not consistent, looks like all the 83 million budget was allocated to CGI, actors look like they are on steroids. I was bored 15.minutes into the movie. Please don't waste your time, but if you really wanna watch, wait for both parts to be released. Thnx |
totally agree with u. I was looking forward to seeing this, but the hype was overdone, some of the dialog is horrible, and the way the main character goes from place to place collecting supporters for the upcoming battle is made to happen too easily, it's like you come with me and they go alright let's go. |
I agree. I already knew bad guy wasn't gonna die but what happened to his teeth. Teeth grew back up magically. |
@ Guest-1978 Yeah, we are already at two and half hours of a two part movie so let's pad it out that runtime with some dialog with folks protesting that they don't want to go and fight |
Agree, but watching Part 2 will double your waste of time. I was hoping we'd be past these 'marvelly' CGI effects, but this movie has them in spades. I don't think there is a real backdrop throughout. As far as the story goes ? Weak and predictable. |
That moment you realize that, oh, not only is it a retread of Seven Samurai, but its a terrible retread (tired stereotypes, excruciating editing, plodding acting, farcical overuse of slow-mo, CGI overdose, no originality of any kind). that there are TWO parts to this atrocity is a testament to the sunk cost fallacy. |
Story is good but Synder's movies are not polished and diamonds need to be cut and polished to be diamonds. |
completely disagree. you probably went in with ill opinion already. it was the best movie since 300. |
Will there be a 4k version? On reddit and imdb everyone is complaining that even at 1080p the effects are so atrocious it looks like it was filmed 46 years ago by a high school class trying to imitate Star Wars |
A lot of friends recommended I watch it, and I just did. Don't know what some people expended, but is an enjoyable Science Fiction film of its type going all the way back to Foundation. You have an Empire, you have rebels, you have spaceships spaceships and lots of action. I can guess what's coming in part 2, there were enough hints. |
Just watched the film: Never heard anything about it, or saw any reviews, comments or trailers. I really liked it. An old time space opera with modern effects. It looked great on my system (watched in 4k with hippy era ARs and top of the line non OLED screen (computers burn OLEDs). And I was both surprised and delighted by the spectacle of the film, the cast, even the old trope of the lead being a female crptospace marine capable of kicking massive butt, working as a peasant farmer, kinda worked. A template right out of near every western ever made, but then so was Star Wars first bar fight. As a whole, a worthy kid brother to many of the finest space operas. It lies somewhere between Foundation and Riddick in the scope of the story. I found it very entertaining. I'm sure it had many shortcomings, but I was too amused to entertain them. I leave that to the usual suspects. I enjoy life, and criticism is destructive, not of it's object but of the critic. But then I am sure they don't see it that way. But as Jan Cox said,"See it or be it." |
A good SciFi movie that is plot driven over character development. Great action scenes and the CGI is ok. Excited for Part 2 and rated |

the (R rated) 4 hrs version (director's cut) will probably only be available sometime around the second part of the film will be available as well: spring 2024... |
I hear that rabid fanboys have to bully Warner Brothers into releasing it. Better hit that Xitter hard. |
The 4-hour cut was a joke made by a few people online, and now a lot of people think it's a real thing |
I think it is better to watch it cold like so many films, without expectations. But supposedly a new extended DC version is planned soon. It may fill in the blanks....or it may not, have no expectations. BKWSU |
Don't know why ppl are so pissed, absolutely love watching it. Some parts look rushed tho and felt more like the screenplay is in a hurry, more like NF never felt the need to please any critic. |
I watched it now (unlike 99% of commenters) and it was actually pretty good. Enjoyed it a lot despite having really low expectations. |
Akria Kurosawa's 'Seven Samurai' done in space. Only fall back is that it isn't done anywhere close to as good. It's not terrible just not as good. If you aim for the king make sure you kill him is all I'm saying. And he didn't. |
Battle Beyond The Stars did this 43 years ago, with more charm |
That Kurosawa seven samurai was amazing on so many levels, havent seen this rebel moon yet but i'll watch it just to see the similarities |
