I have watched this movie twice now, and i really don't understand what people expect from a movie called Rebel Moon ?,what sort of movie did you think you were watching ?the movie was made by Zac Snyder, who made an epic movie from a cartoon i watched as a kid called Justice League,my point is the guy is clearly a super nerd. So anyway my opinion is that this is a fantasy sci fi with many copied ideas from several sci fi movies, having said that .. I loved this movie, it was pure escapism, and there was just enough cheese, but serious enough to make you hate the villain, that is why i loved it, ..it left me wanting to know what happens next?,,,just like a Star Wars movie. |
Imagine not watching this movie because, despite loving other works by the director, you believe there is an "agenda" behind this movie... That's so sad, dude. Hope you all get better and merry Christmas. Or Happy Holidays, or whatever. |
For those of us that watched it all - I'm sure we can agree it's one of the best sci fi movies made in a long while. Good if maybe a little predictable story - seems like it's maybe been done before but still highly entertaining. Forget what the "critics" say, they - much like Sgt Schultz - know nothing. If you like the sci fi genre then this movie is for you. Sci Fi - action, story, CGI, and and entertainment. Part Two Please. Give It Five Thumbs Up |
Really? I watched it all -- this movie is pretty bad. It's like someone took the idea of a generic video game and filmed all the boring bits instead of concentrating on making the plot move forward. |
We can NOT all agree it's "one of the best sci fi movies made in a long while." No. Not even close. This was just a dumb retread of 7 Samurai / Magnificent 7. it was the dumbest concept ever. once you introduce weapons of mass destruction, having 7 people, even if they are "warriors", doesnt win the battle or the war. |
One of the best sci-fi movies of all time This movie is paper-thin We almost poked our fingers through the 'plot' It is not fit to lick the boots of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968 , 8.3 on IMDB ) or Alien (1979, 8.5 on IMDB) |
Doubtful... I've had to quit watching it twice, so only 2/3 through but I highly doubt that the last 1/3 will change my mind and I'll consider this anything more than mediocre at best. |
Just finished watching, enjoyed every moment, great sci-fi and looking to the second installment. Comments that have not yet watched |
The first 50 minutes were okay, and then it went downhill fast. Overall rating: not worth watching. |
Liked the movie but definitely not a masterpiece. Sofia Boutella is hot though. |
Don`t care what anybody says, Zack Snyder is one of the best storytellers of our generation. Yes it`s a modern retelling of Kurosawa`s Seven Samurai, so was Magnificent 7, A Bugs Life. Battle Beyond the Stars, and numerous others, it`s still awesome. Absolutely loved it and can`t wait for part 2. |
My 2 favourite films by him are 300 and The Watchmen both of which aren't his stories. I'm also probably not your generation? I'm Gen X and I'd take Steven Spielberg over Snyder any day of the week hands down. |
The problem i have with Snyder's films is the overuse of slow-motion. I swear each of his movies goes 30 minutes longer than they should because of the slowmo parts |
With ultra-advanced modern alien technology it is possible to speed up the slo-mo parts so that it plays at normal speed Maybe you need to update your equipment Just sayin' |
If in the plot they need to immediately mention who its by rather than start with what its about, thats usually not a great sign lol Thx for the up tho! Gues8382 (playing post lottery) |
Gave it a 4 for A/V. Otherwise a waste of time. And FFS there's a part 2? |
Truly terrible movie. Formulaic, derivative, and PLAGIARIZED (Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven). AVOID. And, oh my God, I know that's "his thing", but HOW MANY TIMES does he want to do: cut to slow-motion. His editor mustve been pulling their hair out over how overused this is. |
Have you checked the capstan roller on your VHS cassette deck |
It's a bit of a stretch to call Zach Snyder a "Filmmaker". How about "consecutive failure"? |
felt like a cross between, Starwars and Riddick but heavy on the riddick.. was not to bad, i did see the demonic symbolism thrown around, they gotta have that in there. let's see what part 2 holds. |
