These people, for the most part, do not believe what they say, they just like to troll, and so they pretend to buy into the rhetoric. They enjoy finger-pointing and name-calling; they enjoy calling people "ists" and "phobes". They enjoy the feeling that comes from, even if only pretending to be, self-righteous. They enjoy the artificial high ground. They enjoy being "holier than thou", which is what we used to call "virtue signalling". |
I live my words 5996, and I do not believe that people who espouse irrational bigotry and hatred should be left to do so unchallenged. It's a long wedge that eventually produces characters like Hitler and the 45th president of the US. Look up "Martin Niemöller" "First They Came For..." |
Intentions literally have nothing to do with it if you can’t actually distinguish between a conscious and an ignorant racist. In any case, both are racist and the latter has no excuse for pretending to be one. |
The comment section has not failed to entertain, and the mods have once again allowed angry, loud, insulting, in your face, bias people to spew their vitriol and attack others personally. Society is split down the middle politically and mostly leaning away from forced "equity", yet the comments section consistently seem to allow mostly a leftist view to shine through. To be clear, equality (the act of making the rules fair for all) should not be confused with the term equality (the active effort to replace, in a distorted attempt at balance). |
You can give two people "equal" access to something, but that doesn't mean it is "equitable" if one of them is in a wheelchair and cannot stand to reach the target. Sometimes, people are held back by things you cannot see. True social equality -- equity for all -- is not as simple to achieve as you imply. |
But equality in the right to live, be free and pursue happiness is. It is about rights, not opportunities that life gives you. If these pages made anything clear, it is that a lot of people do NOT even want to consider to grant certain segments of society to have those equal rights. |
@ LiberalLesbo stop being a delusional person and living in neverland or a bubble of your own. Disney+ Drops 2.4 Million Subscribers in First Loss, Bob Iger Heralds ‘Significant Transformation’ Underway Media conglomerate beats Wall Street expectations for December 2022 quarter I am so mad also drunk I have 5 children and one is female and she won't watch it. Thawne |
Like I said, I'm sure Disney's corporate business plan has been worked out by better minds for business than yours (even when sober), or mine. And I'm really not sure what the children of an angry drunk have to do with anything you've said. Let's have a more pleasant conversation when you're sober |
WTF well Disney is trying so hard to bankruptcy... I've never ever seen a Company try to destroy itself as Disney so hard... damn . I am drinking today quite drunk so I think this is a joke. Just click on this link. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/10/business/media/walt-disney-company-earnings.html |
You needn't say you're drunk; the posts show how drunk. |
march yourself to an AA meeting because getting this bent over a kids show means you have deep seated issues |
2nd screenshot tells me all I need to know for now. I'll wait for a HD copy that I can... properly dislike |
Exactly. Ive learned the exact number of seconds to hold my remote on fast forward when that ad starts...lol |
Funny how some people simply can't allow others to have fun with a simple movie. The world HAS to turn their way, everyone HAS to agree with what they believe to be the absolute truth. Sorry dudes, but everyone marches to the beat of their own drum, not yours. Accept that the world is not your mirror. We all are different, we hold different opinions and we all want different things. This movie is fun for the kids, whether mermaid is white, black, green, purple dotted or burberry. Don't withhold your kids the fun you had when you were young, before you turned bitter and prejudiced. |
@ LiberalLesbo Where is your manners? stop being so shyster and spreading lies all the time where is your manners gal? You are so desperate and used ad hominem, c'mon we are both adults and I 've 5 children and the youngest one is a female and She won't see it. I don't give a damn if you are lesbian or not gal since you are an adult and quite clever but stop with brainwashing.... Deal? Ok. |
Thawne, you've said you're quite drunk, why not message me when you're sober if you'd like to discuss serious issues. I have kept my manners, I have been quite polite, and I do not lie. You would do well to look at what you are saying rather than my comments. Come back when you're sober, I won't entertain a drunk. |
No matter if you are drunk. But you are right mate. Cheers! |
Yayyy!!! Love Halle Berry, Awkwafina and ALL THINGS DISNEY!!! Been waiting so much for this one!!! Thank you TGxMovies You are amazing! Can't wait to see a nice 1080p or 2160 with my nieces Going to check this out meantime. Love you to bits TGxMovies |
that aint halle berry. thats halle bailey. BIG BIG difference. anyway. this movie is so bad it will make 💩smell great. |
You're quite right on the Halle Bailey/Berry there 2507; don't know why I thought it was Berry at all. But it's still GREAT casting, and a lovely new twist on an old favorite. Now it'll be a new favorite for millions |
Boycott this Disney Ariel was never Black, shouldn't be Black, couldn't be Black, can't be Black. She was White in the original story https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Mermaid She was White in the original 1989 Disney animated film https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Mermaid_(1989_film) But then Mulan is kept as Asian. Why Disney didn't change her to Black in the live movie? Because she was never White to begin with. If Mulan was a White character, Disney would also had changed her to Black. It's called Cancel White Culture and that is what Disney is doing. Hypocrite on Disney part considered the Disney company is named after Walt Disney who was White. |
I agree this movie and everything it stands for is sick. I would not dare introduce my youngsters to this. |
Viola Davis? She is 56! They will have to rename it to The Little Over The Hill Mermaid |
LMAO. I bet you sit and watch every white washed movie ever made in peace. No one cares about your ignorant opinion bro |
Quite obviously she CAN be black And as a creature of beauty and complete & total fantasy, I think Ms. Bailey is a wonderful second choice for the role My first choice would have been Viola Davis though |
It's just because the way the light hits the water... That changes everything... No one really knows how she looks... |
As to your reference: "The Little Mermaid" (Danish: Den lille havfrue) is a literary fairy tale written by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, first published in 1837. - Let's look at a few things: 1. Danish, 2. 1837, 3. FAIRY TALE. Not calling out the Danes, but in 1837 there wasn't much cultural diversity. |
100% You're the only one that gives honest reviews on this site, I'm actually surprised they haven't banned you yet. I'll be surprised if they even allow this reply to post... If they do, keep up the honest reviews. |
Dude... only in your fevered little imagination my friend the only lingers there |
@LL Why are you so mad and why @jaxe keeps getting downvotes? he is right about it and you guys from the left/woke agenda keep doing this all the time... 24/7 Stop being a pain in the arse and go to the reality Disney lost billions. |
I'm not mad Thawne, I think I'm probably the only one on here who's absolutely delighted with this movie And I love some of the directions that Disney appear to be heading in The only thing that makes me mad is thoughtless, ignorant bigotry. Occasionally that crops up here you know |
You realize that mermaids are made up. So they can be any color. When you have enough money to make a movie you can cast all the white actors your little racist heart desires. Its a family movie and guess what you sometimes you gotta mix things up to give people like you something to stress about. |
When I was last in France Disney Land, the blacks were not allowed to touch the till, just serve. Yes I know it's not the same as Disney World, but it's still Disney. I suppose there's a large disconnect between fantasy and reality.. |
And citing an alleged case of obscene racism supports what case exactly? And says what about a movie cam? I must have missed that in your dubious, entirely evidence-free claim |
You're quite right there's a large disconnect between fantasy and reality, they're opposites. Besides your little anecdote about Disneyland Paris is entirely made up. Why do you want to spread such nonsense? Know that wilfully spreading lies is far more harmful than casting a black girl in a movie. |
There are two kinds of people complaining about this movie, racists and fans of the first one. The racists complain that the lead has black skin, a color they think shouldn't be used for leads because if you make a fantasy character of color, then they are not they don't feel the most important people in the planet and star crying for attention. They are really fragile people. The fans of the first movie complain about the color of everything else. The underwater scene was a magical color festival in the first movie and in this version every color was, ironically, washed out. Color is an important part of our lives, whether you are a racist or a normal thinking person with neurons doing proper synapses. But the most important part is knowing yourself, the kind of people you really are. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. Except the racists, you can all go and die for all I care, or be banned. But maybe people with power in this page agree with you and that's why you are still here. |
Ah, I wish I could hit the "UpVote" on this GL, but I can't sign-off on being nasty to the mods & admins, sorry. I've spoken -- sometimes at length -- to almost every one of the mods on this site, and they are decent people, doing a tough job, not the you're describing. |
I don't think it's the PTB agreeing with those you don't agree with. I think its about allowing both sides to have a voice. You don't agree with them, they don't agree with you. Why should only your voice matter? (even though I agree with your main point) |
Allowing both sides to have a voice is great, it's the basis of a great society, until you let one side spread hate and dehumanizing people for the color of their skins or who they decide to love or gender. We are supposed to be evolved and if those people only want to hate, let them rot alone, not the rest of us. |
I see of them is allowing racist, homophobes, misogynists' comments. Sorry, but that's not what decent people do. Someone can't be decent in some cases and not in another. You are decent or not. Allowing hate it's not a sign of a decent person. Even when that person is a friend or seems friendly and funny. |
Western white supremacist countries colonized Africa and built their civilization on the resources they stole from these technologically inferior countries. Now they regret what they did to black people and they are trying to compliment blacks by giving princess roles in movies to them. So you should be happy to see them fixing their racism issues these days. good work. |
