trust disney to ruin a classic 18oo's story. not greedy are they. {woke yes} broke no |
To be honest they ruined the story already back in 1989. But that's a tradition, apparently, in the US, to ruin classic European culture in cinematography. They call it "adaptation". |
Splash was brilliant!! Tom Hanks, John Candy, Daryl Hannah, Eugene Levy ("Let's pee down his air-holes..." ) -- what a movie. My dad had it on a cassette, I have an indexFroggy (Thank You ) 2160p |
2Xbets and the casino's related to slot magic are nefarious and known to deny cash outs due to predatory terms basically their scam artists why support anything related plus its retarded ad's wtf are you serious nuke that shit bra .... |
Halle Berry appeared to be too young, now I see it's not her. |
I find it funny how no one actually argues that creatures in extreme dark environments turn white skinned and blind. But everyone seems to focus on race. Do better people, be better. SMH |
Many deep sea fish are not white at all. Many deep sea organisms use bio luminescence, which would have no function when all would be blind. Plus since the mermaid comes to the surface as well, eyesight is valuable to mermaids. Perhaps that's why no one brought the arguments you mentioned to the table? |
She is too ugly! She ruin my childhood dreams! She ruin the image of Ariel! Go to hell bitch! |
And from what thoroughly documented research did you learn how mermaids should look? |
Fugly Bitch who's eyes are too wide. The least Disney could have done was give us a good looking black chick. |
Good looking in your eyes is not good looking in everyone's eyes. That's why Disney could never find anyone who's good looking to everyone. |
Probably a film I'm never going to see, but why can't people just argue about the film and not race. This is a movie for children, not an excuse for angry old (white) men to be dickheads. |
Exactly! Your kids don't care what colour Ariel is, unless you taught them to care. |
Set colors aside; What's more important nowadays: Did Disney tell which of the fish turned out gay? |
Would you feel the same if they redid Jungle Book with all white characters? |
Guest-3010: Absolutely, it's a fantasy retelling... and The Jungle Book already -- kind of -- exists with all-white characters, it was called Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs. |
If you want to just talk about the movie, don't immediately attack a demographic of people. The hypocrisy in this comment is astounding. The first sentence alone would have sufficed. |
Guest-2507 -- I also thought it was Halle Berry. Thanks for clueing me in. |
Unpopular, but I quite enjoyed it. I love the animated version but didn't watch this as if it were the same movie. How many years ago was that? I don't need to see the same movie in human form, just me. I watched this film as if it were a video recording of the Broadway Musical. 40 years old male watching a kid's movie, without my kid mind you. Wait! I'm supposed to complain, nah I liked it. |
I don't think any wise man ever said that... come to think of it... I'm trying to think of a wise "man"... |
A very wise comment Guest 2170....and for someone claiming to not let bigotry and bias go unchallenged that is a very sexist comment LL...?...never let yourself down when policing others |
Oh B4ND1T, it's no use using emojis to try and tell folks when you're being sarcastic is it? And I don't "police" babes, I "challenge". You're right though, I should know better than to joke shouldn't I? |
It's quite sad by now that people still don't know what "woke" means. How could someone who's aware of any form of social injustice turn to shit? An actual wise man knows what he says and doesn't use words he clearly doesn't know. |
I know it's sarcasm...but in the world of "Diversity, Inclusion, Equity/Equality" jokes/sarcasm are a no-no, as you should know, due to every joke in the world having a victim....critiqueing most, if not all, comments that differ from your own beliefs is very much policing, not challenging. |
B4ND1T, Merriam-Webster's definition of "policing" includes enforcement. Moderators enforce on this web site, I only challenge patent ignorance. And -- except when joking -- I support any empirical statements that I make with evidence (almost always primary research). |
WOW! Most of you are pathetic!!!! There aren't even real mermaids to bring up racism. It's a freakin' cartoon. Go touch grass you idiots! |
i think we need a forum for debates on topics other then talking about movies and thats where opinions on race ,polilicitcal, woke and any other debates should be kept and anyone breaking these rules should get a week off from posting second time one month third time your out all together! this is my opinion and i`m sure no one cares. lets keep this about whether the movie worth some ones time or notif you like it or not i`ve seen so many good forum shut down because of arguements over this stuff so lets keep it freindly and talk about the movies good or bad ! just must opinion let the bashing began |
"Go woke, Go broke" The movie is doing terribly bad numbers in China, they'll regret it |
I don't care if she's black....but if they make a movie about malcolm x or american slavery with an all white cast of slaves being oppressed by the blackies.....I dont wanna hear any bitching. |
Tiny difference: Malcolm X is a real person and American slavery an actual historic event, the little mermaid is made up… |
I could "almost" understand why we all argued about what an ancient Egyptian pharaoh looked like, when nobody could possibly tell what that person ever looked like. But c'mon people, this is a mermaid. Half-woman, half-woman-sized-fish. You're really going to get hot and bothered about whether the woman half was black or white? I'm more concerned about whether the fish half was cod or halibut, battered, or with salt and vinegar... either way, I'd eat that with pleasure |
You are not being accuracy and not honest at all @LL Cleopatra wasn't black and you know that, also Disney is trying everything they can to broke... omg let me take a breath gal. |
Nobody knows what skin color Cleopatra had. Balance of probability, maybe, says non-black, but that's the best the serious analysis can say. Aaaand, I think Disney's corporate business plan has been figured out by better minds for business than ours babes |
Would you "eat that with pleasure" if it was a Trans Mermaid...? |
B4ND1T Battered and deep fried, covered in salt and vinegar... I'm not sure any of us would tell the difference |
Actually, Band1T69, she is trans. She transforms from a mermaid to a girl. So yeah, I for one would love to eat that with pleasure, as I do this version now as well. It's fiction, fantasy, a cartoon, for crying out loud. |
