| I think you are right (without having seen the film yet) - the message seems to be pretty obvious and it reflects something I've noticed in a lot of popular media. Can't things just be "Human" rather than Black-White-Hispanic-Asian-etc. All those labels are reductive anyway. |

| "The Magical Negro" is an old trope in storytelling, where a black character comes to the aid of white, often provoking a change in attitudes. Morgan Freeman's character in "Driving Miss Daisy" was heavily criticized as a magical negro. Having actually seen this movie, I don't think your comment fits. |
