I would hypothesize that this is likely to be an underestimate, due to the number of people who would not identify as LGBTQ+ and thus leave themselves vulnerable to the attitudes of those who would do them harm on some level; but we'll use 7% as a baseline for the purposes of this comment.

The estimated population of the United States of America was 340,766,479 as of Sunday, December 3, 2023, based on Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data (https://www.worldometers[dot]info/world-population/us-population/).
