for those complaining it's a movie adaptation of the stage show that was more based on the book, its not a remake! |
Of course the first one is a classic! Wonderful movie. Thank you. |
. Snapshots: Color Purple, The (2023) https://ibb.co/album/t3Ldrf . English Subs revised with my SINGLE LINE scripts https://subscene.com/subtitles/the-color-purple-2023/english/3263868 . |
The original film still is one of the greatest films ever. A must watch. Spielberg and Quincy Jones were in a zone back then. |
this movie is a musical. It is a big screen adaptation of the play idk why people pirating movies give a shit about box office either |
FFS this movie will never be better than the first...Why cant they just leave them alone. |
Bet you didn't even DL to see, another negative comment. I don't usually like musicals, but this looks very well done after skipping through (editing sub). Will definitely watch this. |
It's called "Hollywood has lost all imagination" Once in a while we get an original story. I'm finding foreign films exceptionally better than the three hundred million dollar budget movies we make in the states. Just because you have the money to make it, doesn't mean you should. |
Exactly, Waitress, this and of course Les Miserables etc. How lovely to be singing songs, dancing etc about peoples misery. Some subjects should be just left alone and not trivialised, they need to be seen in the context in which they were originally intended. Is there an Anne Frank musical yet? If not bet its coming. |
This website is biased! 2 reputation points have automatically been removed by our penalty system. Reason: Staff deleted your reply: In my experience this site's comment section is filled with Bigotry, Racism, Homophobia, Misogyny, etc. It's as if the mods have no idea what any of that means. What country is this site from? Maybe they all live in "Wonderland" This penalty will be visibile in your profile. |
It's a few Woke 'activists' who pursue anyone disputing their ideology, and report everything those people post to censor them. I've had dozens of comments censored, which is why I'm doubling down on my output to fight the Woke mob who hate diversity of opinions. |
You know Hollywood is done for when they have to resort to remaking bad movies... |
So true Guest-2930, there's nothing like hollywood telling us we were wrong to dislike it first time round and you can't help but feel like the diversity lot have missed a trick here |
Maybe one day AI will make movies with original ideas? TCP was big way back when. All the ground work was done. Where did the $100 mil go to crank out this repeat? |
Yes, because every story can be only told once... I bet you still watch those cave drawings of your ancestors and whine on the internet how everything was better back then. |
Yeah, such a bad movie it launched Whoopi Goldberg's career. Also, this is not based on the previous movie, it is based on a stage musical based on the book. |
Remaking bad movies? It was a brilliant movie, maybe you didnt understand it, maybe too much dialogue. "The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Goldberg, Best Supporting Actress for both Avery and Winfrey, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Although won none, it was 1985 |
Going to give this a try, but there is no way that the original 1985 release will ever be outdone. I know this is an adaptation of the book and slightly different possibly and I'm going to watch it but if you haven't seen the original with Whoopi Goldberg and several others please do yourself a favor and watch it. One of the best movies made definitely in my top 10. |
$100,000,000 budget and we have marginalized people living in tents on the streets, killing themselves slowly with animal tranquilizers and synthetic opioids. What a disgusting display of virtue-signalling. If they really wanted to make a difference they would take that money and put it towards addressing the poverty and drug abuse that is slowly decaying our society. |
I gave you a thumbs up. I don't agree with how you'd spend the money, but I agree with the concept that the world is full of REAL problems, and racism in the West is among the least of them (as people in the West have more opportunities than anywhere else, and that's why immigrants continue to flock to those countries) |
On a budget of 100 million, this film had to bring in 200 million to break even (ignoring promotional costs which can run as high or higher than film budgets). It took in 58 million, and is now available for streaming. Another money loser. Another remake of what has come before. |
Must have spent $75m on all those intergalactic special effects. |
That 100 million is not including the selling and marketing of the film so add another 100 Mil. to that budget. |
I loved Color purple1985, But a Musical? Really? What's next? The Godfather, the musical? SMH |
Shhh! Hollywood execs are constantly looking for ideas to steal. Don't be 'that guy' who farks up The Godfather. |
You know this was a Broadway Musical right? I loved the movie Hairspray from the 80's, they made that into a Broadway musical and then a movie. How would you write a book that's adaptable into other forms? |
Thank God this dangerous anti Black Male warped feminist drivel Failed. Black people are waking up finally and not supporting the Black gender divide operation in Hollywood and the American Corpo-State. |
MARKAJV , how bout you stop having a winge about others comments and just focus on puppies and butterflies or something to get your blood pressure down. I never said I speak for everyone and I dont pressume to so kindly stick your self righteous attitude and stick it up where the sun dont shine |
