I love all the books by Lee Child , and at least this is a character that looks like Reacher and not a fancy boy like Tom The Killing Floor is the first novel in the series and is very very close to the novel this TV adaptation |
didn't this get started a while ago or is this another reboot? |
I thought that too. Maybe it's confusion with the "Jack Ryan" series - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5057054/ Earlier to that there were a few a crappy Jack Reacher movies with Tom Cruise - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3393786/ |
I believe there was talk of it a few years ago but Corona has played merry hell with quite a few production schedules! Based on the first episode, this looks to be very well made, true to the novels and a damn good watch. |
Just Binged the whole season, damn that was one of the best series I've seen in years. While there were differences from the book, on the whole I found it refreshingly true to the stories. Forget Cruise he was a joke as Reacher; Cena really was a good fit as Reacher! I'm looking forward to seeing more of this series if the writing holds up. |
Cena? As in John Cena? Lol Reacher is portrayed by Alan Ritchman, not Cena |
Physically, yes, this actor suits the Jack Reacher persona, but what about the fact that guy laughs more each 10 minutes than Reacher in 5 books? I've read 5 JR books and I cannot remember one instance in which Reacher genuinely laughs at or with someone. In the books JR is a rough, no bullshit guy, essentially – he often hammers groups of 3 to 5 guys. He seldom acts or says anything not extremely critical, and when he does, his answers or inquiries are concise. He rarely engages in small talk. |
Excellent series. Far better than the Cruise movies. Read all the books and this is based on the first one. |
Tom Cruise, in the movies, didn´t look like a 6´10" and 200+ pounds! Finally someone that´s according to the books. |
Thank you G-team! Last thing I read, this wasn't due out until the 18th. Sooooo glad I screwed that memory up. My Saturday is now "piss off the wife day", because I'm binging the crap out of this. =D |
Excellent series... stays as much as possible to the book. Only mistake I discovered was one where they spoke of and visited Chester Arkansas. Well, since I lived about 6 miles from Chester for about 40 years, I knew immediately the area they were trying to show as Chester was in fact NOT Chester, but I imagine due to filming locations and budget constraints they were not going to go to Chester and film. They did show a highway sigh crossing the state line into Arkansas and that was 100% accurate and I even know what road they were on as I recognized the sign having driven by it countless times myself. But I've seen it in movies before, like Smokey and the Bandit, so I'm sure that one clip is stock footage somewhere. Still all in all a very good watch... I had to binge the entire series at one sitting it had me so hooked. |
