Okay, I put this copy on the big screen since I was very keen to see this. The copy is mediocre, it's not unsharp but flickering and say like an old 80's copy :) That was the fun part, I'm sorry to say. The movie sucks, it's a total miss. And I am very sorry to have to say this because I had become a total fan since the first movie, which I consider a straight cult classic for many years to come. The ZZ Top music, the talent of Mia Goth, Kevin Bacon and others could not save this uninspired movie/story. By the way, Elizabeth Debicki, for whom I also have the highest esteem, had no place in this, here she is totally miscast. There were plenty of great ideas and roads this movie could have taken. When I had seen a promo photo of the Bates Motel, I had thought that this could never ever go wrong anymore. But Anthony Perkins is sorely missed. And now here is the biggest let down of this episode: it has gone mainstream! It has gone soft, it has melted. There is no more gore, there is no more sex, I even wouldn't call this a slasher anymore. And that is a BIG SHAME. I can see the nostalgia and I appreciate that very much. And I can see the respect for the older directors, I saw and I loved the nods. But this story was UNINSPIRED. A lot of great ideas, but none of them came true. A missed opportunity. I still see in Mr. Ti West a successor for Mr. Tarantino, but then he will have to do a lot better. This was below par. Time for reflection! This movie: 4/10, this copy: 5/10. Thank you uploaders. |
I appreciate the review. I'm still keen to see it myself, but I'll temper my expectations. Ti West always make the effort, but he doesn't always hit the target. Unlike you, I couldn't endure a cam copy. I'd become distracted by the poor audio/video quality. |
supposed to be the worst of the trilogy - said to go downhill toward the end , i hear they are doing another follow up movie |
According to every thing out there this is only going to be a trilogy. |
CowGirl: according to wiki: In February 2024, the filmmaker stated that he has plans for a fourth installment. The project's realization will depend on the reception of MaXXXine.[24] In May of the same year, West confirmed that he is working on a fourth film; stating that he may develop it as his next project |
Supposed does not mean IS. Listening to fake reviewers as usual. I watched several reviews from my film making YouTube buds and they only said this installment is more tension, mystery, thriller than horror. All saying so far Pearl is the best of the three. Also their may be a fourth...depending on how this does. |
Name one acress who was in porn and later got offered a serious role. Just one. Waiting... still... there ain't one. It would take an agenda driven moron to risk big money on a movie and the reputation of any person/company associated with said film over some porno star. Before the ladies jump in, yes, women are judged more harshly. |
It's fiction ever hear of it? I for one can't wait til the digital release drops. For those that don't mind cams ENJOY. |
Ron Jeremy, James Deen, Sasha Grey, Amber Lynne, Bridget Powers, Ginger Lynn, Jenna Jameson....should I go on It's a long list????? Edgumicate yourself. |
Cameron Diaz you said name one i got a list of std queens .. |
Many names on that IMDB page Duke7 listed are wrong. Yes, many of those names are of porn actresses and actors, but they don't have a successful mainstream career. Also other names like Arnold Schwarzenegger, they were never in porn. |
here's three. Sasha Grey in Steven Soderberghs The Girlfriend Experience. James Deen in Paul Schrader's The Canyons. Traci Lords was almost cast as the female lead in Martin Scorsese's Casino (1995), but lost out to Sharon Stone. it's rare but it happens. |
Not actress but Sylvester Stallone did OK after doing gay pron. Italian Stallion is not from Rocky.... |
while there are tons of instances of crossover of famous Porn actors to non porn acting going back to Linda Lovelace, from cameos to one off lead or secondary roles or an occasional career (ie Sasha Grey) but really only one actor can be said to have transitioned into a successful mainstream career, (cont) |
