avatarThere's that urban legend about one actress (often it was Pia Zadora) who was so bad when she played the part of Anne Frank that when the "evil German guys dressed in black uniforms" (you know them) rushed on stage, the audience yelled "She's in the attic!".
In Space Cadet, Emma Roberts is so bad that we'd love yelling "She's in the airlock!" but about 96% of the movie is set on Earth. It all "builds up" to a silly scene where she her single accomplishment is something any idiot with two arms could have done. The feeling that lingers once you've watched it is an odd one. It feels like you've just watched a non-story centered around a non-entity character with a job that she could have left to anyone else.
The rest of the cast are goofy, but not in a  good way and that's too bad: they could have redeemed the movie if only a bit :/

avatarSpace Cadet is one of those dumb movies that are so gleeful about their own stupidity that taking it seriously may seem pointless. Emma Robert scrapes by on her charm and handles the drivel capably. The story is as ridiculous as the setup and largely involves Robert attempting to apply to NASA and become an astronaut. However, this also means there's nothing sufficiently unexpected in the film to elicit laughter. The jokes come across as worn-out. While the actors give it their all, the screenplay frequently reduces them to imitating comedy rather than embodying it. Movies such as this come with a price tag for the viewer. It's Independence Day, and Prime Video aims to fill the content gap with what they call "premium content filler.”
