I don't like her as an actress, Wokewood is trying to make her the next star... which is very sad to see. The trailer is boring, the only good actor is Tommy Lee Jones, the mediocres are Annie Murphy & Aaron Stanford and awful Jenna Ortega. Thawne |
Thawne: can you call it "wokewood" if Mel Gibson is starring in a slew of films , Kelsey Grammar has a regular series again and series like the Boys are smash hits? Or are you just doing the same thing the other side does when they act all over sensitive and cry in an over reaction to some made up victim narrative. |
Thawne sweetie there's no one group called "hollywood". There's no conspiracy pushing her to be a star, that's not how it works. Take off the tin foil hat, switch off Newsmax and go and visit some friends or family to get a bit of perspective on reality. |
Thank you very much to TGx who always does an excellent job at getting these out to us!:) The A/V=10/10...5 stars as illustrated above. After reading whatever the person was trying to say in his 3/4th's of a movie review, I'm grateful it was just full of words looked up in a dictionary, apparently, and I mean that positively, as there were no plot spoilers!:) Tbh, I found the movie to be as some literary novels would depict, and as my friend @Jaxe indicated above, the reviews just aren't as good as the book, and in this case I mean that figuratively if I have to throw out a word that has over 2 syllables!:) With all due respect the movie was fair, and the acting was decent. Thought the plot & character development went slow to begin with for my taste, but "it's a movie", and that's me! There were some fine aspects with respects to the acting in the movie, and there are some of the actors I do usually enjoy! I reviewed on IMDB after a blind watch and gave it a M=5.5. Hope everyone has a very Happy Holidays. Very Respectfully, RT!:) |
An excellent, gritty, raw movie, great characters, sharp story, and well done. Everyone plays their role very well, and the combination of the location and the characters fit so well together. Extremely worth the watch, top drama. (and, watch out for Canadian killer tomatoes, you'll know when you watch it, it spirals the principal actors' lives into a major plot line. |
Watched it. At times, the best reason to watch a movie is because of the actors in it. That is mostly true of Finestkind, an engaging fishing story of 2 brothers who were brought up in disparate worlds who are attempting to reestablish their connection over fishing. Both Jones and Foster are exceptional actors and bring their A-game to the film. The problem - they are both worthy of a better script and a more seasoned director. The story falls apart in its 3rd act due to its clichés and frankly absurd and trite dialogue. “you live, you die”, meaningless one liners are packed into the film creating a dearth of substance to enrich one dimensional characters. The movie is far from perfect, but it’s not a bad one either. Finestkind, a word that means anything depending on how you say it, is used symbolically and metaphorically in the film. |
Movie is a bit meh but worth checking out if you are a fan of Jenna Ortega , plenty so see there |
Reviews are not good https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/finestkind It's a shame because the writer/director is also the same writer who won an Academy Awards in 1998 for 'Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published' for L.A. Confidential (1997). He was also nominated in 2004 for 'Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay' for Mystic River (2003). |
