I'm glad it's animated. The DCAU continues to be the only area where DC is successful. (And I'm including the comic books in that assessment. Which Crisis are they up to now? ) |
@Moxie I'd love it if the DC toons were watchable. Unfortunately I'm an adult and not 10 years old. I've downloaded several hoping this would be the one that didn't suck but they're all unwatchable. |
Same here. I outgrew cartoons mostly somewhere in my 50s. |
Skimmed through this. Terrible. I hate this animation style. It's cheap and the perfect way to ruin anything. This reminds me of Trigun Stampede. It could've been awesome if the studio used hand-drawn animation instead of cheap CGI garbage. Do yourself a favor and go watch the director's cut of the original movie instead of whatever this is supposed to be. |
i cannot agree more. one of the most iconic style comics and they give to the stupid DEIs from marvel´s what if. |
It feels more and more like the writers, the producers etc. have less and less juice in their engine. Why rehash a story that's been told twice already and very well? And then again, the movie took some liberties with Ozymandias' plan that I didn't agree with, but it still was a *very good* adaptation that didn't need the animated treatment at all. It really is beating a dead horse. Now, what I would have loved to see: an episodic animated show following the vigilantes working their cases. Just like in the original, Rorschach could have been used as a red thread. Can you imagine, a show about these guys'n gals before the law forced them into revealing their identities, while that threat looms on the horizon? But then again that would have required actual writing... |
Agreed. I just finished watching the last season of Umbrella Academy - it was awful. The story was super lame; barely enough for 3 or 4 episodes so they had to fill out the rest with pointless subplots to give the characters something to do. |
True. Watchmen is the everlasting cow whose tits DC will milk until it bleeds, if not for financial reasons, at least to spite Alan Moore. There's just so much IP they could be exploiting creatively, so many characters... It's like a Crisis in the Infinite Thread Paths! |
No, it's just that this working generation is far more entitled than previous generations. Thus, these days, just like customer service at Mickey D's, everything, job-wise, is lacking in talent and dedication! |
could have been interesting if everyone everywhere all at once hadn't already seen the 2009 movie lol |
this is useless, Zack Snyder already made the movie, and it was amazing, could be interesting for a younger audience |
Looks bad, at least I do't have to pay for it...... At least it's not butchered by Zach Snyder! !! |
Thanks a lot. Been waiting for this since I first heard about. Can't wait to watch, man. |
I'm not a big Watchmen fan, but thought this was great. We'll see about part 2! |
This was brilliant, sp much more than the movie , i loved the comic book scenes with the dark ship...they can do a lot more with animation cant wait for part two. |
Animation style is quite reminiscent of Rooster Teeth productions like RWBY. Is this what WB did with the corpse of RT? |
If you all don't want to be disappointed : read the graphic novel ! You will make the best film or animated in your own mind using your imagination. |
Hmm, movie kinda meh, TV series a flop... let's just beat that dead horse! :D Sigh, but yeah, I'll still watch it. ;) |
TV series a flop? Are you kidding? The TV series was amazing. |
Yep, TV series was AWFUL! Fanboys will be fanboys though so we always expect them to react... |
The Simpsons called this decades ago. DC have milked Watchmen to death for years. |
The series flopped. It vanished after 1 season for good reason... and about it being bad? Oh yes it was. When the pitch says it "embraces the nostalgia of the original" it means banking on it and "attempting to break new ground of its own" means butchering the concept into blandness. |
Guest-2705 the series came and went with a wimper and retroactively became an 'event series' as they now like to call single season flops. |
@Guest-2705 well, not too amazing because didn't see a season 2 and the viewership of season 1 was low... Got 15min in, and done. Started to fall asleep, and it was only 6pm! |
Compared to the usual horrible DC animation, this is refreshing. The rehashed story, well I was going to watch watchmen again so it's not so bad. I'm going to continue watching. |
