"The King Tide" is described as a "dark fantasy fairy tale - Canadian style", it unfolds gradually, building towards a shocking ending. Set on an remote island, the film revolves around an isolated community that discovers an infant aboard a drifting boat. A decade later, the child has integrated into one family, but there is a twist – she posses magical abilities that become crucial in healing and sustaining the community. Gradually revered as a deity, the child's powers begin to falter (due to prolonged use?) and scrutiny arises. How does a community adjust when their reliance on the child's abilities is challenged? How far will they go to squeeze every ounce of magic out of a mystical creature? The production design is smart, the acting decent. Don’t expect dramatic “Bewitched” type magic, its more along the lines of "The Witch.". All magic is subtle. There are several themes running through the movie. The movie will not answer all of your questions but there are enough answers along the way to hook you and keep your interest ( barely ). |
This actually sounds like it might be quite good just scouting around various sites & a score of 7/10 for 332 votes (when I just checked) on IMDB (I know!) looks good at this stage. I'm going to dive in! |
It's not as good as it could have been. The premise is good, and the overall story arc is fine too. It's just the direction - flat, moody, slow and elegiac throughout. This robs the story of many of it's dramatic possibilities. . Not terrible, just... lacking in drama, suspense or horror. 2.5 stars of five for me. |
It started very nice. It has some very good actors (2 from the series Rectify). For me it should have been longer. It felt rushed in the middle and lazy and unconvincing writing from a certain point all the way to the end. Enjoyed it but it was not great overall. |
I guess Clint was a "I don't need no mask" as well as a "I don't need no condom!" But those with many millions can afford it so keep it swingin'. And I appreciate little sidelights like this...even though peeps love to downvote anything Jaxe has to say. |
Frances Fisher, one of the many women Clint Eastwood shagged and had children with out of wedlock. Can't you believe Clint has 8 children by 6 women and those are only the ones he is willing to confirm. Only 2 of those 6 women were his wives. The other 4 women were affairs he had and I think 2 of those affairs he had while he was still married to one of his 2 wives. Out of those 4 women one was a flight attendant and one was a make up girl on the set of a film he was shooting. His 8 confirmed children range from age 27 to 69 so he's been doing this for a long time, spreading his seed. His oldest, the 69 years old daughter, was born in 1954. She was put up for adoption by her birth mother. Clint did not know she existed until 2018 when she started searching for her real parents. There has been reports over the past 4 decades that there are other children by Clint that he won't publicly admit to. |
