"Longlegs" lives up to its promises, driven by Nicolas Cage's electrifying performance. Portraying a character both beautifully and violently unhinged, Cage commands attention with theatrical flair, an operatic voice, and and long lank hair that looks as if it has crawled out of a dumpster and took up residence. The film starts out slow but gains momentum. There are obvious moments of "Silence of the Lambs," "Longlegs" draws clear parallels between protagonist Lee Harker and Clarice Starling—they share a hawkish profile and navigate ominous corridors while nervously wielding a firearm. The film's first two-thirds are dedicated to detective work—analyzing symbols, deciphering clues in books, and unraveling old newspaper reels—before descending into madness in its final act. You may want to keep your remote close by in order to stop and re watch certain symbol readings, etc... Andrés Arochi's cinematography employs subtle, muted colors to enhance its eerie ambiance, complementing the script's unsettling atmosphere. His restrained camera movements evoke a sense of dread and unease, effectively contributing to the film's unsettling mood. The movie stands out for both for script and acting, just remember, the movie requires attention to details. The discordant soundtrack, blending electronic synth with haunting violin strings and strategic silences, heightens the tension. Good watch. The CAM recording a 7 V / 7 A, the Chapter title cards in the movie are not in English. |
Thank you for a cohesive and in depth look at a film i've been waiting (what seems like forever) for. Bravo! |
I have to say, that normally I do not like when a member goes all 'Siskel and Ebert' on a cam. That being said, hats off to you 'IGotYourDogMr'. Insightful and well thought out review. Dunno, maybe because it's actually a positive take, I found myself reading the whole thing. So used to everyone just trash talking. |

Thx! Streaming release should be in 3-4 weeks |
i would give the video a solid 7 and the audio a 9. i don't really know what to say about the actual film though , i guess it was alright , atmospheric but very arthouse - it wants you to believe its a deep movie when it really isn't. cage is barely in it though. |
Just skip them. It's not that hard. And never ever bet on those sites that helps a lot. |
You could use video editing software and remove the ads if you want. Personally, I don't download cam versions often enough to care; however I know others do so religiously. I suggest using your computers video editing software or grabbing Adobe After Effects if you're really wanting to learn how to edit or animate. |
It's not scary. It's good, but not scary. inb4 you just didn't understand it I did, and everyone who watches it will understand it, as the movie breaks it all down into fine detail near the end. |
Scary means different things to different people. Are you religious? Does scary to you have to be a jump scare so you feel the pit of your stomach drop? Is scary seeing whole families murdered brutally? It's opinionated. To the non-avid serial killer or horror watcher, this movie is terrifying. |
@tosgravely So, you're saying that, in your opinion, it's only scary to people who don't watch horror movies smh lol Anyone who finds this movie terrifying is lacking as a human |
I've had some dark trips.. some movies like this give me some ptsd after feelings, some movies scare people in different ways.. i love all horror for that reason, i don't feel much of anything else anymore, so i kinda' like it.. |
Can't wait for Longlegs to come out with a proper webrip version. I can tell this one is going to be a Classic Movie like SeVen or Silence Of The Lambs. Maybe not as good as those but it should be great. |
Cant wait for a good copy of this, Nicolas Cage is a legend he was good in Arcadian as well! Brother saw this in the Cinema and said was amazing! |
The Cage is back ya'll! Nicolas Cage is like the damn Energizer Bunny; He keeps going and going and going! For realz though, he can play any role, in any genre...Not all that well, I may add, but still nevertheless and you gots to give credit where credit is do. |
The comments on movies here remind me a lot of my Grandma's facebook page. fucking embarassing. |
anyone could have done what Maika Monroe does in this film - you could barely call that " acting " - she's just really stiff with no emotion at all - almost robotic |
I just now saw on Rotten Tomatoes this got a 86% Fresh Tomato. Interesting! |
