IMDB has a lot of fake ratings. If you see 9 and 10 is mostly fake. Movies like Aliens or Raiders of the Lost Ark rarely had a 9 or a 10. Don´t believe those high ratings. This is like when you paid people to follow you on social media. |
Well it has evolved whith a more accurate rating now as it always do. Voted by 1000 of people and not paid like this isanely comment suggests. |
I use Excalibur as a measuring stick for proper ratings. It is cult, it has nothing but shakespearian level actors in it, the visual effects are amazing for the year it came out, it tells the full tale of king arthur without a bunch of bullshit and additional melodrama, and has an amazing sound track. |
Ya I like these old period pieces too. The story sounds good. Some good actors in it and its rated good. THANKS!! |
The story sounds good eh? Disease and poverty in the slums of New York. It does not sound good but poignant. |
Update: I watched this, some true story movies can be really loosely based on fact and I guess this is one of them. Nevertheless the story was good as well as the acting. The movie wasnt great, but it was good. Worth the download and watch. Id probably give it about 7/10 |
You had me at John Lithgow. And a period piece. AND a period piece that doesn't hide the reality of the experiences of countless waves of immigrants coming to the US. Hope it's good! TY |
This looks really good and i'm a sucker for GOOD (so few imho) period pieces, esp those with a reasonably high degree of biographical truth. I'm not familiar with the subject, but i'm downloading it and i'll wiki it afterward. curious to see other reviewers' thoughts that might be more familiar with the subject material before/after i watch, whenever that may be (probably wednesday). |
Check out the History Vs Hollywood site. It has an entry on this movie/Cabrini. As for books, though I'm far from an expert on this, I found the recent "Immigration: An American History" by Carl J. Bon Tempo & Hasia R. Diner (Yale University Press--I only trust academic publishers with non-fiction) excellent. |
THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING! Thanks so much for the upload. What a great inspirational story! |
Cristiana Dell'Anna, Gommorah Alumni. Loved her on that show. GD !That's one fine Italian mama. Makes me want move to Italia. |
I didnt think I would like this as much as I did but it was brilliant and hopefully Cristiana Dell'Anna who plays Cabrini gets nominated for an Emmy she was outstanding. |
In 1933, her body was exhumed and divided as part of the process toward sainthood. At that time, her head was removed and is preserved in the chapel of the congregation's international motherhouse in Rome. Her heart is preserved in Codogno, where she founded her missionary order. An arm bone is at her national shrine in Chicago. Most of the rest of her body is at her major shrine in New York. |
Seriously? That is some farked up Catholic shiite! Cabrini-Green public housing in Chicago, a slum as soon as it was occupied by baby mommas and drug dealers. You gotta watch The Wire series if you have not already. |
looks pretty basic and predictable, but suddenly y'all are all very supportive and forgiving hahahahahahaha it's the same kooks with bad taste and loud opinions, too funny funny funny |
This movie again? Lying about Italian history which I mentioned in the CAM torrent https://torrentgalaxy.to/torrent/15924105/Cabrini-2024-HDCAM-c1nem4-x264-SUNSCREEN-TGx- |
so, is the movie incorrect factually or subjectively? i find it hard not to find the person you posted as sympathetic so i'm assuming it's way off in some factual manor? |
So this is based on a true story, but it is historically inaccurate. The truth I had never heard of this woman, so I dont know anything about this story. I just thought it might be a good movie and I hope it is. |
In Italy the only famous Cabrini is Antonio Cabrini, Juventus and national team football player |
There was no hostile NY Mayor she went up against. That was created to make her a stronger persona on screen so audiences can see all the things she had to fight and overcome while standing up for the poors etc etc , Hollywood creativity drama. |
Hollywood has to add drama and sometimes make bad people good on screen, like in the Movie Braveheart, they portrayed William Wallace (Mel Gibson) as a romantic good guy when in fact, he did awful things to innocent people including women. Rarely you see the truth in movies because it doesn´t sell. |
"immigrant Francesca Cabrini" = false, she was a nun and the pope told her to go to the US to help the Italian immigrants, read her wiki. I hardly doubt she had something to say as a woman and as a nun in this time period, that's just how history occurred. This isn't history, it's fiction exploited from a real person |
"secure housing and healthcare for society's most vulnerable" in New York? Well we see how all that went. A noble idea that went haywire because the instinct of the masses is to photocopy handy capped parking passes. Now so many grabbing at the free money that the system can't keep up. Made worse by the demands of this flood of illegals. |
If you're this worked up about poor people, wait until you hear how much we all get ripped off by like 4 conglomerates that own everything. |
Guest-2041: Right. I'll never understand how the poor (and we all are in comparison) get all excited about what other poor people get or don't get while the very rich run off with all the money; get the real handouts left & right from governments. The real takers are the plutocrats! |
