How do you get 35 years for attempted possession of marijuana? |
people dont even get such sentences for rape or for murder... wtf |
Obviously you don't live in a state where that's a severe crime. |
Some dude got 400 years to life for stealing a pack of cookies from the gas station Like it was their third misdemeanour rap And it's the USA after all |
@ Guest-2959 *Only* 35 years You are talking like life with no chance of parole for rape, murder in the USA |
I remember many years ago someone got 20 years for stealing a $5 pack of cigarettes. |
Because people in the USA like paying taxes to house people in prison for decades. Kinda like how they vote for nursing home patients to lead their country. |
This should explain it: https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/public_defender/strikes.html#:~:text=A%20defendant%20with%20two%20or,%2C%20but%20not%20guaranteed%2C%20parole. keep in mind only one state in the entire USA utilizes this. |
well, tosgravely, thank you. i'd been thinking, with two strikes, time to leave the country, but that's some level of defeat and bad authority win. so turns out, just got to move state, people are nuts not to do that |
That was exactly my thought also. That code stick with me to this day BOSCO LOL. I have not watched that scene in over a decade. Had to go to YouTube and watch it |
He was a scumbag life-long career criminal & the drug conviction was the final nail in the coffin in terms of securing a 35 year prison sentence. He may have learned his lesson much earlier in life if every liberal screeching "He dindu nuffin" didn't help him get away with every prior crime without consequences. |
And he's a FREE man. Thank god. |
BullShitz! 1400 pounds of marijuana. He was a big time dealer, who was selling all type of drugs. |
It's the USA, where prisons are a business model and the judges are corrupt to the bone. So yeah... |
Wow, George can't get a break can he? No need to dox his ATM code on the internet! |
max replies reached, so top post now. @tosgravely i commented on your last sentence. now.. that's a great link. excerpt, "There have been proposals to limit its application to cases where the new offense is a "serious" or "violent" crime." |
5/10 on IMDB, looks like a steaming hot turd but you do you. |
It's better than 5/10 . It's a bit too long and slow in some parts, but entertaining and an OK watch. |
@ justsomedude6x - Exactly what I thought! "Looks good"? Nope, not with that score. "Looks" mediocre at best I reckon. Only actor I really recognize is Thomas Jane & the movies he's been in are very hit or miss. |
I don't believe the OP was asking about the longevity of the sentence, rather the preposterous accusation itself . It truly is a weirdly worded phrase which by the way, happens to give off these odd minority report-esque vibes. |
@tosgravely the law was changed somewhat. Now 3 strikes doesn't necessarily mean 25 years. They look at severity and type. It still sucks though. Also it's not just 1 state. 28 states have some form of 3 strike law. |
yeah, i too am curious about his escape, well i will watch now |
People just don't get irony in comments unless you give an irony warning. I assume this is irony, if not seek help. Though there is one orange conman that deserves to do the time, though he probably won't. |
He got 35 years because of previous convictions and the three strike rule in California. He was given the keys to the van that had 1,400 pounds of previously seized Marijuana in it and attempted to drive off, not knowing it was a set-up. |
ah what. would be useful for description somewhere to indicate quanitity. like comments here saying third strike can be minor, make it seem like the Bosco last strike is for a personal use amount |
