 | Watched it. Clooney’s The Boys in the Boat is a stark reminder of why creating quality movies is important. These type of films inspire, they affect. There is quote in the film “ Technique is more important than power. You have to be able to pull a perfect oar, stroke after stroke, it’s a called a swing. When all 8 men are rowing in such perfect unison that no single action is out of sync with the rest of the boat, your moving with less effort, not fighting each other. Most crews never find it. But when they do, ROWING IS MORE POETRY THAN SPORT.” This quote is applicable to every aspect of how masterfully directed this film is. Clooney has selected Callum Turner – who bears a significant resemblance to a young Richard Gere - and Edgerton to star in this deeply impactful film. It is a movie that is inspirational and true to its source material. The costume design is flawless, the soundtrack beautiful. There are many essential lessons ingrained in the film, hope and love being the most prominent. |

 | Interesting that Clooney, who could do anything he wanted with his resume, decided to direct a historical drama? Still, not sure I would be able to sit through two hours of guys rowing and all the backstories about what they had to overcome, etc. Then the big drama boat race at the end. Might have to wait for a sleepless night to row, row, row that boat for a few hours. |
