EXCELLENT... Thanks ... definitely by far one of the best in the series ! |
Encode bitrate is excellent, but the DAR is a little funky @ 16.66:9. It's not a true 1.85:1 (1920 x 1038), it's 1920 x 1036. Creates minor black bars top/bottom, assume it's like that from the source. |
Second issue is the SDH sub which is all UPPERCASE (assume CC extracted), yuk. The Non-HI sub appears to be fine which is tagged as the DEFAULT sub. Not an issue for me as I will be muxing in my modified subs for this outstanding video/audio encode !! Hope you do more in the series 👌👏 |
@Sailor420: I hate it when I download a subtitle for a movie or a TV episode from the subtitles websites and everything is in CAP! That is a sign of LAZINESS on the person who created the subtitle. |
Other thing that others pointed out, this isn't the FULL special edition. There's still some key scenes missing. That might be why there's problematic subs available for this edition. |
One of my favorite movies of all time, love this movie. Every women thinks she's the first badass female lead but they don't seem to remember Sigourney! |
Still the best Aliens movies I have ever see :) Thank you for sharing. |
Looking at this movie from a 2024 perspective. The acting is unnatural and wooden, the effects are rudimentary, and way too many close camera shots when a wide angle would have been far better. The plot also has problems: many of the soldiers have no discipline, and their commanding officer is useless under pressure. |
"many of the soldiers have no discipline, and their commanding officer is useless under pressure." That's exactly the point! The CO is completely green and the Marines overconfident in their abilities and equipment. And they get their assess handed to them in their very first encounter with the xenomorphs! |
@Guest-1716 Yeah I agree, it almost feels like it's a work of fiction and is not factually accurate at all. |
@Guest-2072 I think the point Guest-1716 was making is that modern army training produces far better soldiers and officers. Come to think of it, the movie has another big plot hole: any company worth their salt wouldn't send an unexperienced squad to a colony that's gone dark. |
thank you for sharing just wish it was the special edition with the cut scenes |
Hands down the best Aliens movie of the franchise I rewatched it the other day again and it's aged really well it still holds up. |
Unfortunately, this edition is not the full one. There are scenes missing, for example epic auto-cannon depleting scene. Search for a full one instead. |
Aw man...so I guess this is the compromise edition? I never understood why that scene was removed. It sets up the later auto guns, and the first scene of the guns is no less intense as they run out of ammo. |

STupid kids posting stupid coments how movie is no good or how soldiers are not good this movie was amazing for its time so stop fucking shit on it you fucking snowflake generation. |
If this came out new now most of the comments would say... another female lead film where she's better than all the men. How can she survive whilst all the highly trained marines get killed etc. Utter rubbish of course. |
BEWARE: THIS IS DIRECTORS CUT. Where they put back all the cut scenes, and turn it from a tight. legendary movie full of worldbuilding to a much less exciting B-movie thriller. It was BRILLIANCE, in the original, to exclude all flashback scenes of Newt and LV-286 before the infestation, and to only show the scenes that the colonial soldiers & Ripley see. But, in the Directors Cut, they put it all back in! (WHY?!) A terrible case of Georgelucasitis. |
Totally agree. The theatrical cut is a rare case where the director's cut is trash. showing the colony before the marines arrive deflates the impact. it is better we and the marines experience the deserted station for the first time together. |
ahh the reasons,, the main reason a directors cut is crap "most are" is because theres infighting going on somewhere about royalties, kinda spoils the movie and makes you not want to go buy it.. well thats there idea of it i know someone whos done this and he explained that to me a while ago .... |
From looking at the running time listed above of 2 hours and 17 minutes, this is the Theatrical Cut. |
And it is the better version. Love Cameron's work, but the colony scenes needed to be cut. They deflate the tension we and the marines have by experiencing the colony for the first time together. |
