| The quality of this is really good. This is a probably 1080p rip of the SDR 4k remaster(RM4K) ...which also doesn't include the eng forced subs. Neither does the ita HDR. However the 60gb one does, also the only forced on subscene.com appears to line up properly ...nice upgrade to my old copy for plex. |

 | Really the story of U-110, captured by the RN after being disabled by depth charge attack from HMS Aubrietia (Corvette) and HMS Broadway (Destroyer) in May 1941. Forced to surface due to damage, her Enigma machine and code books were captured with the boat before it could be scuttled. Churchill did not inform Roosevelt until 1942. On the other hand, the U-571 was sunk off the west coast of Ireland in Jan 1944 when she was attacked with depth charges by an Australian-crewed Sunderland aircraft from No. 461 Squadron RAAF. All hands were lost. So this flick is either balderdash, codswallop or whatever other colourful sobriquet you ca bring t the party. Personally, I'm waiting for the riveting tale of IBM's injection of its revolutionary punched card database system into the war effort. The Reich could not have otherwise effectively organised its final solution nor the Gestapo its many other lists. |

 | By RN for any USA readers means Royal Navy ie. British. I bought the DVD of this and it does come with a full documentary about the real events thankfully. With Dunkirk etc I think the time has passed when Hollywood could get away with this. |

| It's sad because the true story is much more intriguing that this one, and as above jaxe astutely wrong of the international nature of the operation, "A Man Called Intrepid" about the Canadian intelligence officer who ran they entire Enigma program from Bletchley Park would make a great movie without having to stretch the bars much, and of that generation of Brit actors who came up in the 80s and 90s would be fine in the lead. |

| They did supply a lot of man power latter on, after the codes were cracked and the operations that mislead the Nazi regime as to where they might land. They did also contribute supplies that were used by Bomber Command and other outfits. Support certainly assists in warfare. |

| There is a lot of griping about the accuracy of the movie, but the golden rule applies...he who owns the toys, makes the rules. Hollyweird spends the money, hires writers to tell the stories and basically control the narrative. People whining about that should start a studio and tell the story their way, or at the very least stop supporting the degenerate hollyweird propaganda machine. By the way, the US government has always had control of a certain portion of the movie industry from 1911 forward, to push whatever messaging they want in the name of "national security". We have all seen in the last several years the attack from one political party against their political opponent using government entities, media, and whatever other means, there is no limit to the extent the US government and their power grubbing allies would go to maintain political control. So yes, this movie is probably wildly inaccurate, but makes the US look good...per the plan. |

 | This is an insult to our Polish, British and Canadian Allies who helped cracked The Enigma Code and capture 15 U-Boats with the Enigma machines and code books intact. The U.S. Navy and U.S. Army had no hands whatsoever in cracking the Enigma Code and they only captured one U-Boat in June 1944, U-505, from it only maritime charts and Enigma code books were seized. |
