Disney took a big financial beating on this film. $200 million to make, not including advertising which is easily another $30 million at the minimum. $205 million total box office. $100 million of that goes to the theaters. A movie needs to make twice the total cost to turn a profit. So Lightyear needed to take in $400 million but only took in $205 million. Disney lost $265 million on this. Parents decided they don't want homosexual propaganda pushed on their children and they were absolutely correct! |
