Possibly, the metadata was there.. but at some point stripped to remove any personal info

Or album info was unavailable at the time of ripping :(          Would be my guesses :)

Try downloading any one of my flac music uploads They are all fully tagged. If it doesn't show the media info, the problem is on your end.

If you want to rule out any technical reason why not showing,  try this:

It should show all sorts of metadata (album, year, genre, etc)

Glad you got it sorted. For myself, I'm very picky about my metadata and usually end up editing it.

I'll ask this :help here, as it's very related..

So, i have 2 machines.. but they read FLAC metadata differently..    any ideas why?

Geez, i feel pretty silly now,  the answer is quite simple...  

CODECS (once again)

The machine (that can rip FLAC's ...... cannot play them yet)  :facepalm
as it doesn't have latest codecs  &  therefore doesn't recognize the meta

It rips them fine,  but has no idea how to play them   lol

MYSTERY SOLVED B)

Hi Kentk9, all my metadata (ID3 Tags) are there. I always check before uploading.

If it's an older album I use TagScanner to download and add metadata to them for me. If it's a newer album try discogs for the tracklisting. (TagScanner uses discogs base as well).

If it's a new album not yet in the discogs database then I'm afraid it's add new release and add the tracks one by one yourself (I've personally added 3), then use tagscanner to add the files to your album, it picks up the info from discogs almost instantly.

Why FLAC is so much better than MP3?  FLAC is a lossless conversion process thus it's better for archiving. Also it sounds better even compared to  320kbps MP3s.

You can also download the FLAC files and convert them to MP3 (or any other format you choose) by using Switch Sound Converter LINK
