More than 130 comments (to date) of -- almost all -- bile, hatred, and sheer ignorance, kicked off by the usual people. I'll stay out of that shit-show. The comments section does not lend itself to intelligent discourse and a rational exchange of views in a mutually respectful manner. But it is depressing that a lot of people use terms like normalize -- homosexuality IS normal; morality -- which changes with the times and, often, political climate; and unnatural -- despite homosexuality occurring in a large number of animal species. My little page has word restrictions on posts, and reaches friends only really, so, I wanted to say something in public so to speak.

I came out to my folks when I was 12. I didn't really get the implications of my feelings, but it would not have hurt to see images in the media that told me I was OK, that I was a normal kid. Why is giving a child, already feeling vulnerable, and possibly frightened by their emotions and those of the adults around them, a little support in our, oh so divided society so wrong these days? I had the love and support of my parents. My dad -- a US Army officer of more than 25 years' service -- said, "So you're telling me you find people attractive? Girls and boys? And you thought I might have a problem with that? Have we met?" But friends of mine have not been so lucky. Being told you're not normal, that your feelings are unnatural when you're a kid is a terrible thing. Especially when it is simply so untrue. Seeing a bit of confirmation of who you are up there on a screen, that can really help people.

The hatred and disgust of the ignorant really, really doesn't.

I can't stand musicals, and rarely comedies, so I haven't even looked on that torrent... if I don't like, I don't watch, so I rarely comment on it.

MissH, I've never known you to comment anything but common sense, but sometimes we all get caught up when the staff have to cull the trolls. I am probably the worst one here for falling for that!! I always trust Mafketel or miok to be as fair as anyone can be in these situations.

TGx is a rare place of open comments and forums, and site rules are administered as best they can be. I moderate a work-based intranet--for which I get payed extra --and it'll be a rare day that I'll criticize any member of TGx staff. I've said before, and it bears repeating, site rules get interpreted by people with their own opinions and attitudes. Not everyone will make the same decision in all scenarios, and admins -- rightly so -- can be reticent about changing the decisions made by others in the hierarchy. I get that, and I get that staff can sometimes be stuck between a rock and a hard place with regard to free-speech. Everyone who expresses an opinion on TGx can think of a time when opinions they agreed with have been removed, and I figure that if no side is entirely happy, then staff are probably treading a middle ground somewhere in between all of us; which is probably "a good thing." What do you think?

I err on the side of "it's the TGx playground, what TGx says is what happens." TGx is not  -- and can't be -- a democracy. And like you say, if I don't like it, I don't have to play. I like this place and the people here enough to carry on playing. Whenever anything happens, I ask myself the same question, "Do I still want to play?" Also, I think, if I give up saying what I think is right because I'm outnumbered or I don't like the argument, it lets the holes go unchallenged, and what does that say about those of us that disagree with them?
