Is it safe to buy this?

It's refurbished. So it's not new, a customer had it before and return it. Why don't just say it's pre-owned like a car is not longer new.

https://www.microcenter.com/product/652245/hp-27-cb0176z-27-all-in-one-desktop-computer-(refurbished)

I see the other computers all have only one 256 or 512 hard drive, this one has 2 1TB drive, that's why I am interested in it.

Price is good.
The only problem I have with All-In-Ones is that if the monitor lets go, the whole computer is also gone.

Oh I didn't think of that.

Do those monitor fail often?

I am using a separate LG HD widescreen monitor for my desktop and had it for 7 years.

I remember when I bought it at Fry's, the kid was trying to sell me an extended warranty and repair plan.

He said the on off switch on the LG monitors always fail within months to a year.

I waived the extended warranty and repair plan.

10 years and I never had one single issue. It always turns off when I push it to turn it off and it always turns on when I push it to turn it on.

Good thing I didn't buy it because Fry's is no longer in business. I will have no way to claim any repairs or warranty replacement from them.

AIO's are mostly what you see is what you get, by that I mean the cpu's are soldered in (mostly) so you can't upgrade from say an i3 to an i5 and same applies to graphics (mostly) but yup imonline:_trusted_user::_sitefriend::_male::_sitelover: is correct once it goes it goes, you'd be far better investing in a decent laptop or better PC

Guess I will pass. What attracted me is it having 2 internal 1TB hard drives instead of it having just one 256 GB or 500 GB hard drive.

Have you considered buying a new tower with extra bays and building up with your old pc? run the os off a good ssd and use your hard drives for storage

P.S no need for the reps but thanks

My old PC only has 4GB of RAM and can't be built up much more. Plus it's acting up. Had it for 10 years.

I'm not spec about hardware, but used to work on an all in 1 mac for some years in work, it was unbreakable. Plus having 27'' monitor is amazing. We wont live forever, and hp computers are basically healthy, price is great too. You can get it and test, if you dont like it you can send it back in 15 days, right?

What I couldnt live with tho is :
Operating System
Windows 11 Home

That is why I am still on my PC with W7 Professional.

I feel every Windows OS after 7 is trash, based on everything I have read on Windows 8-11 and on what friends who had/have Windows 8-11 told me.

Well worth it in the long run though. You dont have to keep tinkering with macs, they just work.

I agree with... no... wait for it... you'll never believe it...

jaxe:_trusted_user::_sitefriend::_male::_sitelover::_junkie::_turtle:

I was a lifelong Wintel platform user, with odd forays into Linux (but missed Adobe Photoshop and genuine MS Office too much). The last time I wanted to buy a new laptop, I had come into some money, and that coincided with the release of the M1 Max MacBook Pro.

Yes, the spec' I got is amazing, it runs incredibly fast, and does the kind of stuff I run (including specialist data analysis packages and graphics) faster than anything I have ever experienced---including my wife's Core i9 64GB RAM.

BUT, it cost almost $7000 CAD and I can't play any of the games I used to like tinkering with any more, and the OS' file management is a stinking PoS, especially when connecting to Active Directory network services. Would I go Mac again? Maybe, but can I have a 64GB Core i9 as well please?

Also, same place you linked to Mr. J.,

https://www.microcenter.com/product/645445/dell-optiplex-3020-sff-desktop-computer-(refurbished)

I know it only has a 256GB and a single 1TB HDD, but it's a decent tower that looks like you could add a drive to it, or upgrade the HDD, pretty easily at a later date. It's a Core i5 and 16GB RAM too, which is pretty good for that money. Of course, you'd need a monitor as well though :_:(

If the subject is home computer and budget is a concern the best deal you can get for the money would probably be a sale priced desktop PC from a major retailer or manufacturer such as Walmart, new egg, best buy, HP, Dell.
Look for the sale prices. If you're open to refurbished i know newegg has quite a bit of those.

I just found out my bank giving me 10-15% on all Dell purchases including items that are already priced on sale at Dell on this website.

Purchase must be made using my bank's credit card and by 5/31/2023.

My current computer is still running W7 and only has 4 GB RAM, no longer expandable. 1 GB video card. It can play 1080p x264,

it cannot play HEVC or 8 bits or 10 bits or x265 or 4K 1080p.

Most of the new games it will not run, any games that requires at least 4 or more GB in RAM.

I am not going to be playing some heavy graphic game like Microsoft Flight Simulator or those Massive RPG words games.

But even an old game like Alien Colonial Marines or a NFL Madden made in 2000s for the PC won't run on this PC.

I just want something new and I am thinking about 8 to 16 GB RAM and a decent graphic card that will play HEVC and x265 videos.

This is the website. I prefer a desktop over laptop, a decent size monitor purchased separate at least 24" (what I have now) HD.

https://deals.dell.com/en-us/category/top-deals

My price range is under $700.

Thank you all.

HP Slim Desktop S01-pF2130st, Windows 11 Home, Intel® Core™ i3, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD

I like this a lot for 499.99 $ on sale.
Plenty of storage. 256 GB Solid state drive plus 1 terabyte hard drive.
No monitor included.
Also no optical drive included for playing dvd/cd but they can be purchased as external unit for about 50 dollars.

It is, here's my set up:

Image error

The big block next to it has 4 - 500Gb drives spanned/striped into 1 - 2Tb drive.

Plan is to get a 2Tb drive to replace it.
