Plot: A young pilot, fresh out of training, is called to join a Flight while they wait for the call to scramble.  | I like these kind of movies and will probably give it a go despite knowing that Spitfires had a flight range of 440 miles at best, and could not carry enough fuel to get to Berlin ... and back. |

 | You're probably right. I've been watching Masters of the Air, and one of the points they made was their trips to Berlin were absolute Hell missions until the P51 Mustang came along, because they could fly the whole distance and provide support. Therefore, it's unlikely the Spitfire was able to make the distance. |

| Spitfire was an interceptor, so range was never designed in to the aircraft, all about speed and hitting power. The P-51 was designed for bomber escort using all the lessons learnt, but was a failure, until it was fitted with British Merlin engines. Thanks for the movie though. |
