The story reads 75 anniversary of D-Day. D-Day was on June 6th, 1944. 1944+75 is 2019. Hence this movie is set in 2019. Artie was 92 in the movie. 2019=92 is 1927, his birth year. 1944-1927 is 17, the age Artie was when he landed in France on D-Day. During World War 2 many young men in UK and USA and Canada lied about their age and told recruiters they were 17, the minimum age to join the Armed Forces with parents permission and 18 to join without needing parents permission. Many were 14-16 years old and forged their parents' signature on the permission forms. |
Thriller This is more like a coming-of-age (geddit? ) comedy |
92 y old is to young to have participated on D day. This movie is a joke and an insult to senior citizens. |
based on an actual true story, he was around 17, calm down |
Yeah, well, it's like pensioners deserve a huge rise in their pensions since they fought in the World Wars |
even assuming it is set right now and not in the recent past, it still doesn't have to add up precisely because you are expected to suspend your disbelief |
not really, he would have been 17 years old and not the only one of that age |
World War 2 ended in 1945 so to even have fought at the fag end of it *fumbles for pocket calculator* (2023-1945)+18= 96 There can't be many folks still around who fought in 'the wars' except today's generation of pensioners |
Guest-1854 So you think he enlisted and they immediately put him on the boat to Normandy? Just google 16 y old kids who fought in ww2 and you'll see what i mean, no kids on Normandie beaches, believe me. Where is their source if the movie is based on real events. |
Yes and it's staggering how many people can't count. Somebody who is 92 in 2023 was born in 1931. Which means he would have been 13 or 14 on 6 June 1944, depending on whether his birthday was before or after 6 June. Nobody that age was in the Allied forces on D Day. |
The biggest joke, or should I say lie, is that the Germans weren't the good guys defending themselves and trying to help all of Europe (WWI and WWII). Ashkenazis are the real enemy. Learn some real history. |
Let's pretend the Germans where beat by 17 y old kids, sure! If we see how they lie about everything today, i wonder what really happened at the end of WW2, since so many nazi's got asylum in the US and Canada. Doesn't anyone find it a little weird that every chief of NATO until 1989 was a former nazi. yes 'They live' |
