 | This is kind of a long rant: (TLDR at the end) Monogamy is over. (because patriarchy bad, and stuff) the trend for the world is to revert to herd-like polygamy. The largest chunk of women are fixated in a tiny sliver of rich and famous men, so they will have to share those highly successful guys so they will have each a virtual harem, (actually, they already have it because of online dating) Some few couples in the middle will keep monogamy (mostly because of religion or traditions) But, a huge lot of bottom men will now be totally disenfranchised and invisible to women... so they will share (gifts in hand) the bottom tier females that didn't manage to secure a monogamous man. And it will all be mostly transactional. TLDR: Whoever sells the Incels companion droids of this quality will be the richest trillionaire of the world. |

| Monogamy never was really a thing (because of cheating) but it prevented the duke of something from marrying and keeping the baker's, cobbler's and postman's wives all at once. The only thing monogamy accomplished was keeping some appearance of structure in society (which is mostly positive for the kids) Kids be damned |

| I don't think the huge contrast (then and now) is because of different laws, but mostly because there was different way to practice religion and that created a family centered worldview. I think inner convictions are always stronger than any external regulations. "Monogamy" wasn't perfect, just better for raising kids. |
