This throws out more more red herrings than an Agatha Christie movie set on a fishing trawler |
Thanks so much for sharing and seeding this movie GalaxyRG Another one I finally got to watch over the weekend and enjoyed. I thought it was good movie, fast paced and a thought invoking. Audio and Video both perfect. |
This kind of reminded me of 'Buried' except Naomi was above ground I don't know why? Maybe all the cellphone calls |
Only 3 cast members listed https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13133936/fullcredits/ To the director of this movie, Phillip Noyce, I ask: what happened to you? You were one of the most in sought director of the 1990's to 2000's: Dead Calm, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Sliver, The Bone Collector and Rabbit-Proof Fence in 2002. Then you have had no decent movies after Rabbit-Proof Fence until Salt with Angelina Jolie in 2010 and again, nothing since. |
Thanks for the good info on Naomi Watts @jaxe! Wow, had no idea she was in all of these classics! :) It's another high school shooting movie, & her kids are in jeopardy. It plays out as a drama as you get to watch her jog & be on her cell for 90 mins & get to the school for the final scene! A/V=10..5 stars M=5.0 |
Just watched it and to me it felt more like theatre than cinema. I don't know what was the idea behind this production, maybe the director wanted to pull of an "iPhone-contained drama" or some premise like that. Hardly worked for me 3/5 |
You sure Naomi Watts running wasn't a 'special effect'? I looked like CGI to me Reminded me of Billie Piper 'running' in Dr Who or William Shatner in T J Hooker |
I really liked the movie, especially because you accompany the protagonist in real time, so you understand the anxiety that she experiences every minute, as well as the uncertainty of what really happens. This shows that sometimes with so few personnel and without special effects a great film is achieved. |
@Guest-3678 Imagine getting three downvotes just for saying ....... Imagine getting three downvotes just for saying you like Naomi Watts... looking at you Jaxe . BTW I upvoted everyone except the guests if they can't be bothered signing up then they aren't a part of the community their views are invalid as far as I see it. |
Our views are invalid? Why would anyone want to join if you have that kind of attitude? I don't see the point of upsetting the guests, or rather seeders. I mean honestly, if you like we can hit and run. |
Ah dang, you didn't give us an upvote, InspireNZ? How will I get through the night from now on? |
this is your 'The Desperate Hour' a.k.a. 'The Desperate 84 Minutes' |
Naomi Watts is still lking good for a 53-year-old. At least she still lks real. Must be all the running I wouldn't throw her out of bed for farting |
Thank you so much for the great week of movies TGx! :) I did enjoy the movie, although to me it played out as a "drama" vs. a "Thriller". Thanks again to @jaxe for providing some history on "Naomi Watts" who has been in some excellent roles in the past, and always knew her to be a great actress/actor, but he did his homework and gathered all the info on her as she had a difficult role to play her as she's the main character, and seen throughout the 90 mins of the movie! ;) Another movie where an actor successfully does a fantastic job acting alone and the movie was outstanding was Tom Hanks in "Castaway", for example. Although this is not a feel good type of movie, it's another in many that have been done since the tragedy at Columbine, CO. I don't want to add any spoilers to the movie, and think you will enjoy the movie, if you want to see another movie like this, but remember, you'll be watching 90 minutes of her on a cell phone with various people(or the same), back and forth, as she's jogging, and trying to jog to her son's school, while getting information about the "shooter", etc! Think you'll find parts of it, interesting, and she did a great job! If I had a wish, it would be that they switch scenes to show what was going on at the school, so it wasn't so hyper-focused on a one-person movie throughout, even though she was good, it's really tough to never get more info about the son, very small parts of the son, and I believe they show visuals of her husband who had passed away before! Think as @jaxe said that was the 3 person cast, but going off memory from the night before last when it was released! :) A/V=10 5 stars and M=5.0 just wanted more scenes than a first person on a cell phone, but it was done well by her! :) Think many will enjoy! :) |
