Remember the days when a disaster movie was about character development, story telling and great action scenes? Spoilers ahead
This movie has zero character development, is more around classism and has nothing to do with impressing the audience anymore.I have seen better cgi in movies with around a 10th of the budget of this movie from the 80's. The movie is a toned down ,political version of the great hit' Deep Impact' (1998) which I highly suggest you watch instead of this. Another great asteroid movie is 'Armageddon' (1998) which also puts this one to shame. A real shame.
|
Just finished it and I have to admit, I was excited to watch this after seeing Reaper's comments and reading a few early reviews posted on 'other sites' that shall not be named. :P Cut to the chase: I'm a real sucker for end-of-the-world thrillers, but I thought this was a pretty awesome flick. With so many reviews and comments already posted elsewhere, I won't bore you by rehashing the details of the plot. Just a few random comments: the movie is well directed and shot, with a realistic story, credible performances by the cast and some exciting special FX. It's a nail-biter. The one hour and 54 minute run-time is divided about equally between the personal family drama of the three main characters (think separation anxiety) and the impending extinction-level disaster. Reminded me of the 1998 film 'Armageddon', with Bruce Willis. If you didn't have any plans for your Friday night amusement, consider this a strong recommendation. Based on the TGx 5 star rating scale, I'm giving it a 5/5. :bomb Thank you, GalaxyRG! |
Jumbled plot dry movie disappointing considering it has some big actors. 5/10 |
Entertaining disaster flick. Would have to agree that the CGI is not the best and the 'green scene' is rather obvious especially in the car sequences. But not to quibble. An enjoyable ride and although the ending was rather predictable (although it could have ended a couple of minutes earlier and left us wondering) some of the twists and turns weren't quite as predicable. Thanks @Reaper for the great review. Been waiting for this for a while. Everything everywhere says it will be well with watching regardless of @Guest-3945's opinion. Thanks goes to the uploader. |
Loved listening to Gerard Butler's Scottish accent. Thought he was Australian at first and mistook him for Russell Crowe :D Glad he didn't "do' an American accent. Like Sean Connery (RIP) he could play a Russian submarine commander in that accent and get away with it. He mentioned something about a "Highland fling" whatever that is :-* |
wonderful You get excited from the begining to the end of the film. Thanks. |
Spot on Reaper B). Nice quality, and a very good movie to watch, in theese scary times :D 8o 8o Thanx for sharing Galaxy :) |
I found this movie dry and predictable but overall better than many other movies coming out right now. With so little be named movies being released on the scale of what options we have to watch worth your time but not as good as I had hoped it would be. 5/10 :) |
Why no 1080p DD5.1 anymore? What happened to that mux? Not the first time asking either. |
