Una ragazzina di nome Bea sta attraversando un momento delicato della sua crescita e proprio in questo frangente acquisisce inaspettatamente la capacità di vedere gli amici immaginari delle altre persone, abbandonati nel corso degli anni dagli stessi bambini che avevano sostenuto nei momenti di maggiore difficoltà. Bea scopre presto che anche il suo vicino adulto, Cal, condivide la stessa capacità. Insieme uniscono le forze per riunire gli IF perduti con gli ex amici, ormai cresciuti, che li hanno lasciati indietro.
