avatar@Toe: I am a horror movie fan. But movies like The Substance are not horror. Gross is not scary, it's disgusting. Look at the Alfred Hitchcock's films: scary, thrilling, horrifying and they do it without needing to show any blood, guts, gore, bodily fluids, internal organs, people getting chopped to pieces.

avatarIndeed. The Substance added nothing of substance (hehheh) to cinema. It was a rehash of much better body horror movies, and if it hadn't thrown in some well-worn cliches about female beauty standards, it would never have achieved critical acclaim.
