I think I can remember Memento. He cannot remember 15 minutes ago. I have a family member who has Vascular Dementia & cannot remember barely 1 minute ago but can remember something that happened 30 years ago as good as anybody else can. Short Term Memory Loss is a Horribly Evil Insidious thing to deal with. You watch your Loved One slowly slip away in front of your eyes & nobody can do nothing about it. |
Truly sorry to hear that TC. Though we've been fortunate to not (yet) watch any loved ones lose basic cognitive function, the idea of the dissolution of the self has long been one thing that has deeply disturbed & saddened me. I never want to see anyone I care about suffer it, nor lose myself to it. |
You would think that in this year of 2024 that they would have a decent treatment for Alzheimer's/Dementia. About all they can do is keep your bp down & try to prevent a stroke & that's it. It truly is a sad & terrible thing to witness. I wouldn't wish it on anybody. Though hundreds of thousands die each year from it. |
It's frustrating to be sure, but the way I look at it--based on my very cursory knowledge of medical history--is that modern medical science is still in infancy, only about 100-150 years old. So I look to the great progress made in such a short time & just hope for more advancements to help alleviate human suffering. |
That is true FB. Mankind still knows very little about the human brain or body for that matter. They have made great advancements just not in helping short term memory patients & it's a shame but hoping they will have something in the near future with the way everything is advancing these days. |
CLASSIC. I had to rent it a bunch of times early 2000s. "The Following" is also a great movie by Christopher Nolan. Same kind of Mindfuck |
For sure it was Dimebag. Will be Guy Pearce's Best Movie of his career. |
I saw an edit of this film where it was in chronological order, and it was boring as hell. Really showed me that with a great concept and amazing editing what can be achieved. |
