...and the Fear Makes Us Special...: Poems by John Wing Jr. PDF
Comedian-slash-Poet? Seems an unlikely combination, but John Wing Jr. has been a comedian since he was twenty years of age and he has been writing poetry for twenty five years.
In this new book of poems, John Wing Jr. explores themes unknown to most writers and readers - the lonely life of a comedian, the relationship between the performer and the audience and the contradictory nature of the comic personality... or as John Wing Jr. writes:
"You work in bars, at night. You have more free time than anyone should ever be allowed but it’s ultimately quite punishing in its isolation and its temptations. I have tried here to give some understanding of my experience.”
John Wing Jr. is no stranger to the entertainment world with six Tonight Show appearances to his credit and over fifty television appearances in Canada and the US. He has also performed in most major comedy clubs throughout North America. Born in Sarnia, Ontario, John Wing Jr. attended the University of Windsor, and now lives in Los Angeles, with his wife and two children.
....and the fear makes us special... is John Wing Jr.’s second book. His first book of poems A Cup of Nevermind was published by Mosaic Press in 1998.
