The Crimson Peril: The Golden Amazon Saga, Book Twenty-Three by John Glasby EPUB
Perhaps half a light-year away, there was a star — the most curious star ever encountered. It pulsed with a dull red hue, behaving like a living entity, contradicting the nature of any known star.
For a long time, the Crusaders observed it, transfixed. Then, Viona's expression transformed into one of mystification.
"What is it, anyway?" she asked. "Obviously, it's a sun of some dull red color, since all stars are essentially suns... but what causes it to behave in such a manner? Fluctuating between the first and tenth magnitude, pulsating like a living heart..."
"For such mysteries as this, we traverse the void," the Amazon replied with a smile. Then, without another word, she rose and crossed over to the control board. With adept manipulation of the switches, the vast nose of the Ultra slowly pivoted in the depths until it was aimed directly at the pulsating enigma...
THE CRIMSON PERIL is the 23rd installment in the ongoing saga of John Russell Fearn's most renowned science fiction heroine, the Golden Amazon. Crafted by the legendary JOHN GLASBY, this original novel perpetuates the adventures of the Amazon and her fellow Cosmic Crusaders as they explore one of the strangest and most perilous solar systems in the galaxy!
=====
The Golden Amazon was one of John Russell Fearn's best-known characters, and appeared in 26 books written by him, with an additional one posthumously written by his biographer, Philip Harbottle, based on notes left by him, and with four more posthumously written by John Glasby. After the first six books were published, Fearn tweaked the Golden Amazon's origin, and the final 25 books in the series all take place in the far future. When they were initially reprinted, the decision was made to have these published as two separate series - the first 6 books being The Original Golden Amazon series, and the rest being The Golden Amazon Saga. Technically speaking, the Saga continues the story from the Original series, but I am adopting the two different series titles to keep in accordance with the publishing history.
