“Oddity” is a perfect example of trailer duplicity. The movie falls under “Gothic supernatural thriller” – with edges of comical styling that some may find more irritating than entertaining. There is some fine acting and cinematographer Hogan makes gorgeous use of shadows, the stillness of spaces/objects (and there are plenty), and the tension of fraught spaces. It’s a movie that may be best served as a stage production at the National Theater or maybe an extended feature from Tales of the Crypt. It’s a slow burn of a movie that fails to capture an atmosphere of suspense and instead jitters along into tedious boredom with an anticlimactic ending. 6 A / 8 V |
While the story of Oddity is a fascinating one, it is less the tale itself than the particular way McCarthy chooses to tell it that renders it one of the year’s best horror movies /Alexandra Heller-Nicholas top critic awfj.... Certified fresh 96percent of 93 reviews and the audience score was 85 percent/ but yet if we listen to the haters here /the wannabe movie critics you would just hard pass/ some here do not like female leads unless they have a bikini on or fly an invisible jet... |
Russian television added an historical slant to psychic detection called Anna The Detective. It's on Youtube and went to 50 episodes. I stayed with it all the way through for costume detail and characters less like the usual Miss Marple shows from BBC. Fully subtitled. |
Thanks, the trailer looks great and it doesn't show too much, I want to find out what's going on so I'll watch. Have a great sunday and God bless you. Thawne |
I'm curious, but I'll wait for a better quality copy (in this case, I don't think it will take long). |
I saw this opening night, I really liked it and the acting was pretty well done, So there's def Caveat references in it, which I also enjoyed. see it! |
