Jenna Coleman after Victoria series has me so I will check this out. |
One of Coleman's best for me, along with Victoria, is The Cry |
started off quite good but then just went all over the place, it was like everyone who lived there was a village idiot |
I lived the first 2 years of my life in Morley, near Leeds, in Yorkshire. My family could easily determine the difference in accent from Morley people and Leeds people even though they are less than 10 miles apart. 'spanishguy' has it correct. You can travel a mere 5 miles in the UK and come to a completely different accent. Those who grew up without such British idiosyncrasies probably know no-thing of such. Anyway, I have a genuine fondness for Jenna Coleman. she is quite beautiful and very talented. A rarity among British actresses and even rarer among American actresses. Many fans of Doctor Who gave her a 'bad rap' regarding the 'wokeness' that her character personified particularly during peter Capaldi's final season. I agree with the YouTuber 'CosmicNite' that Jenna Coleman's character faults were due to her self-delusion that she was equal to the Doctor and imagined herself to be another Time Lord. I recommend this video by 'CosmicNite' as an intelligent and unbiased review of the Peter Capaldi era and Jenna Coleman's Clara. Enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvPEJzBscXc |
Since 1922, the United Kingdom has been made up of 4 countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Just saying :) |
@Guest-9517 -- Wales = country NOT principality. So Pootle is correct in saying that GB is three countries. |
Wales is a basket case that has to be continually baled out by the UK government. |
Why do all British have the same accent? With the US there are Hundreds of different kinds of accents. From Inbred Cannibal Redneck Accent to Paak Yaa Caa Accent. |
Lol, They don't. Firstly, Great Britain is 3 different countries. Wales has it's own language and numerous Scottish accents sound nothing like any Welsh or English accent. |
I'm from Liverpool and we have a totally different accent to people who only live 10 miles away. If you go further afield you will find accents change dramatically every 10-15 miles. |
Actually, Great Britain is two countries - England an Scotland, plus the Principality of Wales (like Monaco). But I get your point, and you're right - I come from Southern England, and can't understand some people from Liverpool or Glasgow. The reason TV accents are "normal" is so you guys over the pond can follow it ! |
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has defined Wales as a "country" rather than a "principality" since 2011, following a recommendation by the British Standards Institute and the Welsh Government. So Great Britain is in fact, 3 countries.. England, Scotland and Wales. |
They have a narrow range of specific regional accents they use for television and movies. Most of them sound quite different in casual conversation, depending where they grew up. |
I guess the Downvoters can't take a Joke. LOL |
