A Norwegian zombie movie?! Yes please! The Nordics usually do the dark stuff very well! |
This movie was like WTF?.... booring as |
Handling the Undead is a love letter to the dead, or in this case, the "undead." It’s a quietly elegiac thriller that takes its time getting to the point. Don't expect there to be any type of real violence - at least not until the final 10 minutes. The movie grapples with the grief and loss of our loved ones, even as they stand before us, staring directly into our eyes. The movie's score complements the atmosphere with a brooding, ominous undertone. What makes this movie worth watching is the direction - the sinuous cinematography. The camera never races or crawls allowing the viewer the time to appreciate the details that fill the picture and deepen the realism of the undead. It's a slow burn and the reason for this waking of the dead is never really explained. |
Well, thanks for the spoiler on the reason never garnering an explanation. I can skip this one. |
That was meant to be an upvote , decent review thankyou |
Dunno Doesn't a solar flare or something wake the dead up |
More like the living dead meet the walking dead, only the living dead were more scarier than the walking dead... |
A-10 V-9 Thanks for the share. Even though Mr.Dog posted the spoiler, I decided to give it a watch anyway. It's "okay." Certainly not a normal zombie film, at least not in the traditional sense. And the DogMan was correct about the questions which remain unanswered at the end. I agree with IMDB - 5.9 or maybe a tad less. But you gotta chuckle about some of the 'greenies' roaming around trying to pick the brains of those not in anti-equality camp. Rather like the "My Bodyguard" film, but in reverse. |
Thanks GalaxyRG. Straight into "Zombie Movies" folder. Rating is about right. |
Oh dear me and my depresssive soul, I enjoyed this dark slow nordic movie. As mentioned above, the cinematography is really good and unlike most other norwegian made movies. |
There was an Aussie TV series (2015) with a similar premise. First season was good. Can't comment on this though. |
its based off a 2005 book, the author who wrote it also did Let The Right One in, turned to said title and US re-adaptation Let Me in |
It's the first time in my life that I've seen a film at x3 speed without missing a scene or a sentence: this film is so static and without dialogue that it seems like a pulled (but at the same time limp) rubber band. The bright side is that I only wasted half an hour of time seeing it. |
Well if you read more you would know what the rating is there for and it aint the quality or movie ... |
Watched it hoping something good might happen, Nope!! slow burn rubbish. |
