Yep! final episode and final season. All good things come to an end. Hopefully I will still be around when they bdecide to make another Star Trek series...."Make It So" |
In this case it couldn't end soon enough. Absolute embarrassment to all things Star Trek. The writers would fit right in with trashy tabloid magazines. |
I couldn't disagree more Guest-2334, I wonder why you would even think that, but that's the spirit of Trek. We all contribute how we can, bringing a diversity of opinion to the whole |
@LiberalLesbo ST:Discovery certainly had a lack of diversity in script quality. The quality level of the writing was consistently bad. Perhaps the executive producers should have encouraged diversity in quality by hiring higher quality writers? |
Which episodes did you find particularly weak 1752? I found things to enjoy in everything I watched. But there were some episodes I found less engaging than others, e.g., Saru's return to his home planet in S02E06 The Sound of Thunder wasn't as good as some; but it's all our subjective tastes really isn't it? |
Just a quick note to all those that say garbage like the original Star Trek was not focussed on subjects like celebrating human diversity. These are from the man who created the show: "Star Trek was an attempt to say that mankind will reach maturity on the day it learns to value diversity of life and ideas. To be different is not necessarily to be wrong. The worst thing that could happen is for all of us to look and think and act alike. For if we cannot learn to value the small variations among our own kind here on earth, then God help us when we get out into space and meet the variations that are almost certainly out there." Gene Roddenberry in Fern, Yvonne. (1994). Gene Roddenberry: The Last Conversation. University of California Press. And... “If man is to survive, he will have learned to take a delight in the essential differences between men and between cultures. He will learn that differences in ideas and attitudes are a delight, part of life’s exciting variety, not something to fear.” Gene Roddenberry in Parkin, Lance. (2016). The Impossible Has Happened: The Life and Work of Gene Roddenberry Creator of Star Trek. Chapter 6: Fan-Topia. Aurum Press Ltd. |
But all of modern TV is looking and acting alike. Star Trek Discovery is the same as Doctor Who, Star Wars and every other modern show, they're all obsessed with race and gender and calling their audiences racists. |
Guest-8197, they’re not “calling you a racist”. But if your own behaviour means that you recognize yourself as exhibiting what they might call racist attitudes, then perhaps you may need to adjust your behaviour appropriately? |
Guest-7068: You're brainwashed. The modern West is the least racist society in human history. This is why it is a magnet for immigration. DEI (Didn't Earn It) policies ARE responsible for racism and poor outcomes. |
"The modern West is the least racist society in human history" this is true for most countries here in the u.s. it is becoming more relevant everyday its very alive ... |
And even supposing for one second that might be true, better than X -- where X might be stunningly awful -- is not much of a yardstick. Diversity, equity and inclusivity policies simply attempt to improve society. It is only your hate-fuelled attitudes that blinker you B., you're to be pitied really |
Creating policies that reward or advance people based on immutable characteristics as opposed to merit, is the most regressive, racist, sexist and society-damaging approach imaginable. The Woke claim the West is systemically racist, but it hasn't been until they've actively worked to make it so. |
Well, it's a good thing that "[c]reating policies that reward or advance people based on immutable characteristics" is the strawman argument that you have produced in order to make a point that only exists where people like you imagine it to exist, and plays no part in Star Trek of any variety; well done |
You really do project. Only you don't bother refuting valid arguments (because you're unable); instead, you put on a straw man costume and every sentence you post becomes the fallacy you claim others are responsible for. |
Brrzrrkrr, the comments page is not the place for a sufficient takedown of your nonsensical allegations. If you want to have a more detailed discussion somewhere more appropriate I would be happy to oblige. However, you would have to undertake to observe a mutually respectful discourse this time, unlike the last. |
@ LiberalLesbo - So, are you saying the "nonsensical allegation" is Brrzrrkrr's characterization of DEI policies or the suggestion that some Star Trek has featured DEI policies 'in universe' (as opposed to real world promotion)? The characterization was accurate. I don't think anyone made the suggestion you imagined. |
also, the generalized advocacy of diversity is incoherent and a misread of roddenberry. his point was that more variety in our perspectives and in our ideas will improve society, but superficial forms of diversity have no inherent value and matter only when they're wrongly being treated as if they are important. |
Thank you TGxTV the A/V on this episode is -- as always, and as you'd expect -- of the highest standards for its' specs. I got this and the 1080p SuccessfulCrab share. The series has been a delight for me. These have been great characters, almost all have been extremely well-portrayed, and have had some great stories to work with, well-told, and contributed to with some excellent effects and good direction. Loved the finale, and I very much share the sentiments of those that wish it could have continued. The new Treks have all made entertaining and fitting contributions to the mythos: a diversity of life, working together to explore the final frontier, and expand knowledge and experience (does anybody else remember IDIC -- Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination -- original series, season 3, episode 7) in the best traditions of Gene Roddenberry's brainchild. Although, I could have done without Strange New Worlds' singing Klingons. Discovery however, has been an all-round excellent show Thanks again TGxTV for all your efforts |
There is an excellent and foolproof way to improve (or even generate) each ST:Disco episode. For example, the last episode is immediately improved by this Linux command: $ cat /dev/random > Star.Trek.Discovery.S05E10.avi |
Aaaand anybody new to a Linux Terminal session would be well-advised to think twice before trying 'that' one out |
I tried what Guest-1554 suggested and the storyline and acting were indeed much better. Seems that /dev/random produces better scripts? The executive producers can save so much money by not hiring those writers anymore |
Just a quick response to flexiverse, Brrzrrkrr said, "...the sharp, defined slide that increases each season." Episode average votes show seasons 1 and 2 are identical; season 4 numbers are worse; but slowly improve, and season 5 improves on season 4. Episode "total votes" appear to show Brrzrrkrr's claim, but to say anything conclusive, you need to look more closely at the data and data collection. I'd like to look at regression coefficients for example, and compare between seasons to see if there was statistical significance or whether we're looking at expected variation in the numbers. Thus -- to anyone that knows anything about data analysis -- the data does not "really check out", that is, it doesn't fully support Brrzrrkrr's claim. |
The graph supports his claim. That and STD serving as Paramount's streaming service halo show that has failed to draw audiences and left the company on the edge of bankruptcy (check the stock performance over the last few years) suggests it is a mismanaged IP. |
the very woke version of Doctor Who Disney is presenting has gotten the lowest ratings in the history of the series. the woke star wars series, also Disney, are ratings disasters. why do you believe Discovery did any better? what's with the pretend complications for something as simple as number of people watching? |
I hear you boss, but... awww, dammit, you know what I'm like |
@FauxGojira you are so wrong about Roddenberry. I sat and listened to that guy talk at several conventions, including the first biggie in New york in 72. It was there that he said this "The one who comes in and says, 'I don’t think we’re going to sell too well in the South because you’ve got a black on the show.' That man deserves to be thrown. And there’s no point in trying to make that kind of man—that kind of junior executive mind will never understand what Star Trek’s about, anyway, if he became your Saturday night drinking buddy. I think if the show came on now, with the change of attitude and a change of perspective and outlook, in the networks as well as in America, we would see many more black, brown, Oriental, and various faces and races." https://www_facttrek_com/blog/roddenberry1972 I was in the audience and I heard Gene Roddenberry say that. The man knew what he was doing and I heard him talk a lot about sending a message about diversity and equity (he used those words) for the future. It was one of the main ideas for the blind Geordi LaForge character. Deny it all you like, but you are one of the people he'd have said "deserves to be thrown." |
Guest-4444, I wasn't going to respond to the trolling of the fake lizard, he's just a berserk clone -- I wouldn't be too surprised to learn they were the same person -- but it seems like I didn't have to. I'm jealous, I'd have loved to have listened to someone like Roddenberry. Many thanks for your contribution |
Gotta love the Trump effect. This torrent is rated 5 stars and meanwhile the content is only 16 minutes when it's more than 90 minutes. |
Man...NO one's happy with anyone here. I thought this show was supposed to promote diversity. Instead, it promoted unity. In how everyone HATES each other!! |
Man, I thought people accepted the earth isn't flat. Goes to show you how delusional many are today. |
it's not all bad -- each 1 hour episode has only 16 minutes of semi-worthy content anyway |
Look at all the positive ratings for the torrent despite it being incomplete. |

Season 4 had some good moments, but otherwise I can't say I'll miss this show. RIP, presumably they tried their best. |
This series is progressively worse every fuckin season. When i think it cant get worse, it does. So ruined. |
