The story centers on a normal boy, Tom, who gets drawn into this world against his wishes when his eccentric grandmother who he lives with in San Francisco's Chinatown turns out to be the guardian of the phoenix egg. | Watched it with some kids (nephew, nieces, their friends) and they liked it. As for me, its animation is fine but nothing special, and the story, while a welcome representation of a different culture(s) that puts a refreshing new twist on old themes, is kind of flat (along with the direction). 7/10 for me. |
