| Walker Scobell was brilliant in the first half of The Adam Project, with a great script. Then everything fell apart in the second half. Sadly, this series is looking like that second half. The script and directing are horrible so I won't even talk about acting as the actors had nothing to work with. So chaotic. As if they had a ton of material but then someone decided where episode 1 must begin and end so it was butchered. Episode 2 focuses on what matters the most to Disney - being non-white. It does look like Percy will have "a thing" with a (black) girl so we shall see who will have to be gay or plural. I'll still give this a chance as I believe these actors can do much better and many shows start off poorly scripted so there's hope yet. However, this was obviously made for preteens and young teens as there's no adaptation whatsoever, just copying the fantasy world. Meaning, it'll always feel like a children's book. Which makes it even worse to hear an obviously 14+ year old boy say "I'm twelve". I mean, WHY? If you couldn't or didn't want to have a 12 yo, then just have him be 14! It also sounds like Walker has had sessions with a logopedist. I really liked his "accent" but now it's completely gone. And I thought he lived in an "inclusivity" state. |
