Watched it. Foster and Bening are exceptional actresses. They know how to engage with each other, it's enjoyable and enriches this biographical film. The movie incorporates footage from Dyad's real life. The director utilizes seamless time sequences to help deliver a detailed account of Dyad's life, elucidating the courage and determination that drives her challenging swim competitions. The movie has its thrilling moments - Dyad being attacked in the dead of night by large jellyfish is a standout moment. The director has no hesitation in zeroing in on the actresses face, during the worst and best of times. Foster as Stoll is exceptional, the wrinkles behind around her eyes with those large protruding glasses only amplifies Foster’s role as credible. What makes this movie a standout and so enjoyable is the acting. The film moves at a nice pace and holds one’s interest. |
@Guest-2971 It's refreshing reading a beautifully articulated review. Thank-you! |
And the usual people are not concerned about how good/bad the movie maybe, more concerned with the sexuality of the females in it, two big well known excellent actors, well done the predictable ones. At least some managed to sneak in a couple of reviews, thank you to them 👍 Yomanda |
Thank you GalaxyRG, audio and video are great as usual 😘😘❤️❤️ The movie is a moving true story of an elite, accomplished international athlete, and how she succeeded in a monumental effort of fitness and endurance, despite multiple setbacks (Bening playing Diana Nyad). She's supported on all levels by her best friend (Foster), with no hint of anything other than a deep and abiding friendship. The anti-queer, anti-anything-but-straight-white-male fringe that love to comment on everything they have never seen, are speaking from a position of complete ignorance if they suggest otherwise. Bening and Foster turn in two excellent performances, in a well-directed and scripted narrative. This is an excellent movie, that stands out from the recent crowd. Thanks again GalaxyRG for a great upload and a bonus for anybody's weekend watching 😘😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️ |
I was in a group setup where back-to-back horrors were starting to empty the room until this was chosen, and man, what a ride. I ignorantly knew nothing about the story and thoroughly enjoyed what unfolded in front of me. That there was some real horror, and that there was some bloody good acting. Loved it |
Yeah, well, if cyclists and runners can go for a break in the team van don't see why swimmers can't do the same |
There are no breaks in a boat, and the swimmer cannot be touched or assisted in any way. It's a great movie representing a GREAT achievement for Diana Nyad or anyone with the determination and will to do what they believe they can accomplish. Similar achievements in the film Hacksaw Ridge as Desmond Doss. |
As far as achievements go this movie is up there with 'Brokeback Mountain' |
Yeah, I think most of us could swim 110 miles in four years |
But does it give you the real ending? The one where she cheated? |
The trouble with true stories is that history has usually got there first |
Yep, last screenshot lks like the funeral of someone who drowned at sea whilst attempting to swim 110 miles across the Pacific Ocean |
'The Swimmers' (2022) was a good watch Brought a tear to the eye it did Batting at 7.4/34K over on IMDB |
Some of the comments here seem to prove the postulate that "God's" biggest joke on man is sex, and man's biggest joke on is "God" is Religion. |
Bet the comments would be a whole different story if Karen Gillan was starring in this |
If you can into a boat to rest, SMH, what's the point? The "Mt Everest" of swimming my ass. Naaaaaaaaah, too much prune juice for me in this one. |
As a registered Harvard-trained physician may I say that prune juice is extremely good for you, keeps you regular as clockwork Personally, I take it every day |
People who are climbing Mt. Everest stop and rest while they're doing it. lol |
Sure lks like it Unless Holyweird is running out of faces |
Isn't it awesome how those ancient Greeks thought of a name that would mean something entirely different when your read it backwards in English a few thousand years later? |
