Watched it. CMCM is all about exceptional acting, and there is plenty. The backdrop - a courtroom. The storyline revolves around a mutiny aboard a navy vessel where the Lt Commander was removed from his position by his subordinate. Multiple witnesses are cross examined to determine the truth of what happened. There are compelling portrayals that serve as the foundation of the film, Sutherland's and Jason Clarke are the 2 primary. The supporting cast truly anchors the thriller. Lewis Pullman, a spitting image of his father Bill, plays the manipulative officer who manipulated the actions of his superior. It’s an engaging movie. |
I'm pretty sure Lance Reddick has been in like 15%+ of movies/shows I've ever seen. |
RIP Lance Reddick. One of my favourite characters from Fringe and John Wick. Will miss his quiet charisma. Gone too soon. |
Fringe, John Wick, and about a billion other excellent shows and video games! |
Oh no, I'm not suited well for this much court action sleeping pill. Let me grab my pillow |
Got to the end of Urban's testimony (~23 mins) and felt that I had seen enough. The actors seemed strained and uncomfortable. I'm sure that others will enjoy this, but if, like me, you mentally draw comparisons to Bogart and Ferrer from the 1954 film, then it may not work out. Just my two cents. |
Is Kiefer an alcoholic? Pic 2 looks like a drunkards nose with makeup to cover the burst capillaries. No matter, I am gonna give it a watch and see how well they retold the story. |
Some movies don't need to be remade: Ben Hur, The Godfather are the 1st to come to mind... And oh yeah, The Caine Mutiny. Can't blame the WGA strike for this, Hollywood has been running out of stories for quite some time now. |
I googled it. Kiefer is def an alcoholic. 4 DUIs in 10 years. Getting hammered in a gay bar at 9AM. Etc. Not judging. I have been around a bottle or three in my day. |
What does that have to do with anything? |
Getting hammered or getting... "hammered"? lol.. |
4 DUIs in 10 years means diddly-squat |
For as much as I like director William Friedkin and respect his work and this being his final movie before he passed, I still recommend to watch the original instead with Humphrey Bogart https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046816/ |
The 1988 version with Jeff Daniels was the first for me. I wasn't too bad. I agree, Bogart's was better. I'll give this one a shot. Plus, the wife loves Kiefer for some reason. |
I agree.....Haven't watched this one yet, but I will, Bogart/Ferrer were sublime in their roles as were the other actors.....and it didn't make a hash of the book!!!! |
