The plot sounds exactly like the TV series, "The Summer I Started Putting Out." And the IMDB Trailer page states: 18-year-old Ever Wong, who is sent from Ohio to Taiwan to study Mandarin for the summer but turns out to be a teen free-for-all that is dubbed "Loveboat". Others know better than I do, but if one goes to Taipei to learn Mandarin, where should you go to learn Taiwanese? |
Mandarin is the official language of Taiwan, but Hokkien (or as you call it "taiwanese") is still very much spoken by the original inhabitants of the island. So, to answer your question: also to Taiwan. |
Whoever wrote this doesn't have any authentic Chinese friends and acquaintances. "EVER" is not a Chinese name nor a English equivalent of Chinese names. The writers should had gone with Grace or Jade or Amy. |
Tell that to my friend named Ever who's from China you goofus. |
Besides, she is American with Chinese roots. She can have any names her parents wanted. |
