Just really tired of all the focus placed on gender preference as if its the central story and everything is developed from there to support that focus. Im tired of the agenda as if it is used as a selling point and im tired of the agenda..... |
Still not realising that you are pushing an agenda yourself just by saying and continuously repeating that, Dasterdly? |
Dasterdly, I've never heard so much "whining", I'm tired of this & that, what's the bottom line, instead of I'm tired of 95 things, because agree with Guest 1313, after hearing all the griping it's like geez, stop begging and move on to another movie, bc we'll pull out the violin for ya! ;) lol |
Might be a good movie, but the focus maybe should have been on the mental disease of the main actor? |
>> So being gay is a mental disease? I honestly hadn't thought Guest-2638 had meant that, I just thought it was a slightly oddball comment; naive and trusting sometimes |
Is there any mention of a mental disease of the main character in the movie? No. So how is that comment to be taken? Come on, there must be someone around here who understands English. |
You know what? Many of us are getting sick and tired of constantly hearing that movies about gay people are "pushing an agenda" and that you will not watch because of the "gay agenda". Lgbtqia+ are part of this society, whether you like it or not. And as such it is only normal that there movies made about lgbtqia+, just as there are movies made about elderly, teens, criminals, nurses, you name it. More than usual? Perhaps yes, but that only is because it was never before possible to be so open about one's sexual leanings. Lgbtqia+ have always had a very hard time and they still have, being shunned, spat out and literally hunted, so there are millions of stories to tell there. You don't want to see them, because you don't want to know what the society you live in really looks like? Fine, then don't watch. No one in this whole wide world is interested in hearing whether you will or will not watch. But stop pushing your anti lgbtqia+ agenda by blaming the movie industry for pushing a pro lgbtqia+ agenda. I very much doubt they are pushing such an agenda. I firmly believe they finally see an opportunity to tell the stories they had to keep hidden because the world was even more hostile then it now still is. Just as much as they finally saw a chance to tell stories about the black community that could not have been told before. Or show physical intimacy between two people as it really is, not fully clothed intercourse with at least one foot on the floor. They're not pushing agendas, they are making up for lost time. |
Guest-5921: Thank you for one of the most erudite comments I have ever read on this site |
Gays (and everyone else lgbtqia+) don't ask for a "special treatment", they ask for a NORMAL treatment. To be accepted as integral part of your society without being pushed aside or treated as some weird addendum. We want to be able to hold hands or kiss in public and not be ogled. We want to be present in your books and movies, as we are present in your society. We are here, always were here and forever will be here. Acknowledge us. Accept us. Live with us, not against us. You claim to allow us freedom as you demand your freedom? Really? Think about it: do you really treat the neighbour you have absolutely no intention of sleeping with because too old, too ugly, too fat, as you treat us, whom you have absolutely no intention of sleeping with, but for other reasons? You don't, right? You will still treat that fat, old, ugly neighbour as any other "normal person", because you will never drag the "going to bed with" element into the equation. You always will with us. You have no intention whatsoever to ever sleep with us (which, believe you me, is practically always mutual), but yet that element plays a role in the way you treat us. You feel somehow threatened by us (why else would you believe we want to turn you or your children, as if that was somehow possible?) or you feel disgusted by us (why, when we will never share a bed?). So no, don't say you allow us the freedom you want for yourself, because you don't. Avoiding us, shunning us, ignoring us is "special treatment", not freedom. |

The policy of "Don't Ask..." was in effect when the movie was conceived -- and it serves as a time capsule of the ramification of that policy. In the event that a gay man is able to become a member of the armed forces, he has to contend with any number of abuses that are heaped up upon him in the name of discrimination. In the case of this film, it is doubled as the lead character is not only gay, but also black. The issue at heart is whether gay people are an asset to the military; for some reason, it was never a significant issue until recently, with the advent of Desert Storm. With the passage of the policy, the military has no right to refuse a gay person, which therefore leaves the gay man to become a pariah in his own platoon. Here, he is subject to a number of abuses by the rest of the squad, as he is treated with disdain by the Commanding Officer (who coincidentally is also black) and is beaten up by his fellow recruits, and has to fight back to be able to achieve a level of respect. |
darcman said: Gays want their freedom, Well I want my freedom too. I want to be able to decide that I dont like something without being labled. The gay agenda is to force their beliefs on everyone else. I am not telling people not to be gay...go right ahead, but just dont ask for special treatment. I -- and all homosexuals and heterosexuals -- want the right to be able to go out in public without hate-filled bigots assaulting us for just being who we are. Not so long ago, a British lesbian couple was beaten up on a bus, because they wouldn't kiss each other for the entertainment of a bunch of drunk men on a bus. We don't want special treatment, we want to be treated as equal human beings. For years, mainstream movies pretended we didn't exist, or we were perverted freaks, now we get to have a few movies that show us as normal people; and hate-filled bigots who want us "back in our boxes" as the inhuman ones. That's not "special treatment" darcboy, it's redress, it's justice. Also, when you complain so loudly, I can't help but feel "the lady doth protest too much, methinks" (Hamlet, Act III, Scene II). Feeling your oh-so-hetero masculinity slipping a bit are you? You're liking Jeremy Pope a bit too much for your liking? We get it babes, you can come out to us, we won't mind |
Thank you, LiberalLesbo, for saying exactly what I was posting as well (only my posts always get deleted). This should be a "sticky" and repeated on every page where this topic is addressed. |
A clown walks into a room and they expect not to be looked at, judged, or made fun of? It's society - if you don't conform you get judged. Even when conforming the nuances of an individual are judged. The more 'out there' you are, the more likely you'll be chosen as the next sideshow attraction. The world we live in |
Homosexuality, same sex, lesbianism are sexual proclivities nothing more and nothing less Not chromosomal mutation nor genetics bound. A choice. all the hoopla on both sides of the fence aren't going to change it, nor will my commentary on the subject change the opinion of those who are dug in like a tick, espousing either side of the argument. It's still a free country to say and believe and live the way you want. If people would spend more time and money worrying about poverty and education than worrying about the sexual behaviors of others, just maybe this world might have a chance. Hey LBGQT, go live your lives, but don't try to impose what you believe on anyone else and be able to handle criticism and others rights to say what the hell they want. After all, isn't that what you been fighting for? the right to be yourselves? Using your community's political and financial power to squash free speech that you don't agree with is what's causing all the blowback against your community now. For the Homophobes. Live and let live, don't you have more important sh*t to do? So what if people are "out the closet" It's a free country, free speech is your right, but you see what happens when you pushed the envelope of it? it's because you're "Full Retarding" free speech you got this country on the verge of an Orwellian dystocracy. This sh*ts is beyond stupid, both sides need to get a grip ,call a cease fire or something, so we can all get back to what's really important, the work of the mutual deconstruction of planet earth. |
Guest-1853 I would agree almost completely with everything you stated with the single exception of "[a] choice". Homosexuality may not (that we are currently aware) be the sole result of genetics (which would include chromosomal variation); it is most probably the result of biology and environmental triggers. |
How many gays do you read that say with every movie about straight heterosexual couples that they pass, not wanting to see for an alleged agenda? How many homophobes do you know that were harassed if not beaten up by gays? Live and let live, sure, but that world doesn't exist. Not all sides of a medal are equal. |
A good watch, 7/10. he graduated in the marines in 2017 and stayed until 2020. Thanks a lot for the up. |
This is a hard NO for me...getting sick and tired of these gay themed movies...just saying |
Then don't watch. Simple as that. |
throw the avatar in the waste my friend, and whoever makes really awesome one's, please help darcman and I...:) lol I'm embarrassed to say mine is "novice"..and his ehhh perhaps is "toxic" (wink)...lol j/k...ok obnoxious! Anyway, @Dacman - "Chemical Waste Team: Why not WATCH the actual movie(s) before judging them!;)" |
@readthis A lot of people are sick of your gay agenda (wink wink)...you are one of those straightaphobes who wont let anyone have an opinion if it differs from your agenda (wink wink)...come back when you get rid of your agenda |
But aren't you upset because of the opinion of the film makers? If they have an agenda at all, aren't they allowed to have one that differs from yours? Mirror not working? |
Awww what's wrong. Feeling a tingle down there? Idiot. There will ALWAYS be Gay People so either fume about it and die young or accept people as they are and live happy! |
Wow the gag parade is out in full force. Agenda folks like gay movies, the rest of us dont. |
And THAT, dear darcman, is YOUR agenda. |
Gays want their freedom, Well I want my freedom too. I want to be able to decide that I dont like something without being labled. The gay agenda is to force their beliefs on everyone else. I am not telling people not to be gay...go right ahead, but just dont ask for special treatment. |
"force their beliefs on everyone else". What "beliefs"? No one wants you to be gay when you're not. No one could, even if they wanted to. And no one wants to. Try to reread your own words and see who's intolerant here, who doesn't want the other to be as free, who judges before knowing. |
If he is gay and can't come out for whatever reason, he should get support, not being made fun of. And if he isn't gay but simply a bigot, he should be educated and still not made fun of. |
@Sniggy54 - Agree with you, would say 'It's like with 9/11'...Awareness happens, then..over time it dissipates! Like Church attendance for the 6 weeks following 9/11 was at an all time high, then just completely slowed down once again let me use the word over "time"...and it really depends on the issue and let me influx the word how much the media is thrown into the mix! The more they are, the more it will stay elevated! I think that's "sad" bc the "Awareness" alone should be enough to give us the opportunity to make a decision one way or another and "stick" to it! Yet, with all sorts of issues, people go back to the way life was before, in this case 9/11 or they don't think Racism exists as "bad" in 2020 or somehow it's gotten better bc of "Awareness", that being just step 1. If you make me aware of something for example, and then I don't do anything with the info, then go back to the way things were, what good was "Awareness" for that brief period? In one word "ZERO"!! Think we have Awareness out there, but where's the entire plan that follows? That seems to lack in many areas. It's like running a meeting, and coming out without anyone having any action items, to come back to follow-thru and "did something" (ACTION VERBS!!)...so that the next time a meeting occurred, (you could measure "PROGRESS"), that's how you first would set (GOALS) to begin with, and then have a worthwhile ACTION PLAN toward (FOLLOW THRU)...yet...anybody know of one? I sure have never even heard one mentioned? Heck, as a former Project Mgr. it's not rocket science, just difficult to get ppl to "be stay on one side of the line", and mean it! (BOTTOM LINE ORIENTED)...IMHO...:) Heck..toss this one out..was BRIANSTORMING..;) |
CaptDesko said, "Let me see if I got this right: If I say -"Jazz is different now" (or paragliding, or gambling, etc.) I first need to be an expert, I also need to do research.... but it will always be an insult to every Jazz musician, gambler and paraglider... Interesting indeed." I would make the (possibly foolish) assumption that jazz/gambling/paragliding et al., (being freely available to take part in) may have been something you had experience with. Also jazz specifically is an art form and open to artistic interpretation. The armed forces are a different matter entirely. If someone makes a comment on the nature of such, then they really should have an “informed opinion”, or expect to be challenged in healthy discourse. The nature of the armed forces can also be emotive for many. My parents both served, and have “health issues” due to that service. Passing ill-informed comment on such a topic can be expected to provoke a response that differs from commenting on jazz or paragliding. Once again, I won't comment any more on this subject here, but if you'd like to discuss it further please PM me and we can go into as much detail as you'd prefer. |
The armed forces are a different matter entirely. (Sorry not convinced) they really should have an “informed opinion” (why?) or expect to be challenged in healthy discourse (-I agree!! but it wasn't. It started with the left foot) armed forces can also be emotive (everything can be) I won't comment any more (Ok then) |
Right on LL!:) Couldn't agree more. One thing bc I was watching the PGA earlier,& hey I love "sports", & racism EXISTS..the NBA, "prime example", then when I look at my favorite athlete of ALL TIME: Tiger Woods; He's an icon..& we don't think racism about him/Golf vs. NBA(& the % of the NBA players-don't come from $) |
always trying to get mfs to come to they page for discussion about a film written by a real black gay marine , 0 academy awards nominations for that bs #boycottwomanking #ados stop celebrating SLAVE TRADERS |
Yaay been so excited to watch this film thanks so so much for the upload definitely watching this tonight! |
