No woke crap allowed in this house! Disney productions are dangerous to the original and legitimit family unit. Passing on this. |
I don't mind the race-swapped casting, or even the out-of-shape and aging dancers. The problem is one of the leads can't really sing or act. And a lot of this felt like a high school production instead of a proper milestone celebration. |
It's brave to imagine a man as a beauty and a woman as a beast! It's so unusual! |
Nah, Batman did it first when Jack Nicholson's Joker danced with Kim Basinger's Vicki Vale... "Of course if anyone else calls you Beast..." The ludicrous fear of anything "other" is just palpable in the comments on this movie... pitiful |
@ Liberal Lesbo 'The Others' with Nicole Kidman was a scary movie so I can see where folks are comin' from 'n' all |
@Guest-3702: I LOVED "The Others." What an awesome movie that was! |
There is some woke ass BS. I take it the beast is struggling with his sexuality? The requisite black actors of course and ... nevermind, hard pass. Would not show this to my children. |
Agreed - not everything has to be diluted and re-worked to be mainstream Hollywood wokeness... would not show my children this either. |
You think the beast is strugging with his sexuality.. from that one scene with blue ribbons in his hair from the original movie? You think this is woke because for the Live Action musical part they have a black woman playing Belle? I'm sure you are the same type of person always going about "leftists" being "triggered" |
There are some decent and worthwhile bits in this, plus the kids do love this story, so I am going to edit this down over Christmas and show the 'director's cut' to the kids in the New Year |
What did you do when your father forbade you something? Didn't it just make it twice as interesting? I'm afraid what you want to teach your child will fail miserably the way you go at it. But you won't hear me complaining. |
This is not woke dude , there is not a trans dick in sight (or maybe there is?) |
Yeah, the purposeful abuse of the word 'woke' is a laughing matter. |
Guest-1721: Merriam-Webster recently updated their definition of “woke” in this context, to include a “disapproving” addition... woke woker; wokest chiefly US slang 1. aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice) 1.1 often used in contexts that suggest someone's expressed beliefs about such matters are not backed with genuine concern or action 1.2 reflecting the attitudes of woke people 2 disapproving: politically liberal (as in matters of racial and social justice) especially in a way that is considered unreasonable or extreme In this context, I don’t think you can really say that the unthinking and the bigoted that view anything “other” than themselves as somehow inferior or unnatural are deliberately misusing the term “woke”. They are falling within point 2 of Merriam-Webster’s definition, and possibly stretching it in whatever dimension they go (e.g., racist or anti-LGBTQ+ ignorance). They simply refuse to acknowledge any benefit in viewing all human beings as equal in nature. Rather sad I think, especially when many of these people profess religious affiliations which preach "goodwill to all men" (I'll ignore the last word and consider that to mean "humankind"). It would all be rather sad and pathetic if it didn't, so frequently, result in violence and death. Happy Christmas (from an atheist) to everyone, whoever you are. |
It does amuse me how whenever any woman -- not just me -- posts anything remotely rational and/or coherent on the interwebs, some fragile little man-baby has to say we're male, because they can't cope with the idea that a woman might actually have a point they hadn't thought of |
I agree. Disney just going lazy with the dieversity race swap in this version. |
Meant to say 'Crawl' Although the movie did have lots of crocs in it |
Weinstein we like, Disney we hate. Weinstein is manifold convicted for sexually assaulting women, so what. Disney we think is "woke" and that's intolerable, although we do not know what that word stands for. |
@ Guest-5507 You have to separate the man and his movies You can still hate the man yet love his movies That is what Granpa says about Michael Jackson |
Except Disney. We hold different standards for Disney we do. |
I always get a bit sad when sarcasm is so clearly misunderstood. |
Disney goes 'woke' (whatever it means ) It was bound to happen sooner or later |
Well, they also went sdfhjkt, whatever that means. Couldn't be avoided. |
