| OK, admittedly this is not a   Shudder Original but it is a very well-produced (by Martin Scorsese nonetheless) and made by A24 and BBC films  More drama than horror  PLOT SPOILER Tilda Swindon did a great job of playing both the mother and daughter. At first we weren't sure but didn't want to stop the movie to find out so waited until the very good 'Pyscho'-esque end credits Louis the dog was a star turn. Bagley the dog look promising too but didn't get much screen-time As for the complaints of there not being a  ghost a ghost can be clearly seen at 32:24 Some people obviously weren't paying attention which explains a lot A movie that left more questions than answers Anyway, it held out attention and found the movie enjoyable Thnx TxG |

| "Interesting film, but with a slow pace... Normally I like most of the movies Tilda Swinton starred in, not all, but most of them. "The Eternal Daughter" could have been something more than what it is if perhaps more suspense had been added, maybe a few more characters. It could have been a great "Ghost Story", but probably the director did not want this from the film she created. The scenery and the entire "environment" from the hotel would have permitted that. The film wants to emphasize the mother-daughter relationship and the mark that some people leave on our lives, even after they pass away." |

| As I understand it, the well-worn trope is merely construct used to explore familial mysteries. The movie is certainly well received by critics, e.g Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian gives it 4 stars. |
