How is anyone supposed to search for this movie? You can't pull up any results on sites with a title like that. |
put the imdb id in the search. work great for me when i search for a movie with a weird title |
Here's the original teaser trailer. Carrie Fisher and Christopher Lloyd were originally suppose to be in it. One of the original producer was Gary Kurtz (RIP) who produced Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZpaeRMnLbs |
WOW! Really???? First time I seen any videos of this on YouTube was in 2003, talking about this project. Then in 2005 we got a semi preview video, like a first look trailer, promising a release date the next year and then nothing. There were long discussion threads about this in the IMDB forum under this title entry, before the IMDB forums was shut down by Amazon in 2017, people asking if this was ever going to be released. According to WIKI, the production of this started in 2001. In 2017 it had a very short theatrical showing run at one theater and the makers promised it will be available for streaming, home video purchase and theatrical release in 2021 and nothing ever came of it. Then MGM bought out the rights in 2022, did a new final cut that premiered in theaters in September 2022 before the BluRay release and here we are. Now that's a dedicated filmmaker. 21 years he worked on this to get it made and released. |
Wow, just... wow! Also, I miss those IMDB boards a lot! I guess it was the actors themselves (who hated to read the people unfiltered comments) who pushed the shutdown... You know, things like: "He's so old/fat now" "I don't like her surgery" etc. |
Amazon shut them down because they said there weren't enough people using them. The truth is Amazon was going into the movie making business and those boards are notorious of folks posting negative comments on new movies and causing box office losses. That was the real reason. Amazon bottom line. |
Thought the reason was that Amazon couldn't afford the server space to host the message boards |
@Guest-2683: Amazon, a company worth billions with $563 billions in 2017 when they shut down the servers, couldn't afford to pay for servers that have been up and running hosting those forums for years and years already? Don't believe that. |
YouTube didn't exist in 2003, but i agree with you. |
So anyone that was young in this movie now has Alzheimer's or bone disease? |
Thank you for the interesting background info. I was just going to skip over this as it didn't seem worth my time, but your comment has shed a new light on this film. Not sure about YouTube in 2003 though...your alternate universe is much more advanced than ours. |
Writer/director Patrick Read Johnson was in reality the first person to be shown an incomplete preview screening of Star Wars: A New Hope outside of those who worked on the movie. This film is his autobiographical telling of how that came to happen. |
