@Guest-3046: Why does that matter? It's acting. The job description is to play a character in a story. What has the actual gender or sexual preference of the actor got to do with it? When the actor accepts the part, then why is the audience having a problem with that? |
matters to the average person about as much as Medna or Dr. Frank-N-Furter or Galaxia.... |
You are right, it shouldn't matter.... but the world is crazy about representayshun now. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2018/jul/13/scarlett-johansson-exits-trans-role-rub-and-tug https://www.out.com/television/2020/4/10/netflixs-money-heist-slammed-casting-cis-actor-trans-role (and more) |
The only annoying thing about this whole LGBTQ crap is all the whining around it (on social media), just fukn ignore them and let them cosplay all they want. |
And 1317, stop the pretend of 'being who you are' If this was an honest statement you wouldn't change your pronouns every month. I go fish, i don't ask people to call me the fish master and eat fish every day, i hunt, i don't ask to call me the hunt master and eat meat every day. You get it? You don't get to demand. |
Guest-1317Leave people the alone, do whatever you like just don't come and say how people have to behave towards you, don't demand people how they need to address you. You don't really get it do you! Leave the children alone and quit the entitlement and the never ending demands for privileges. |
What do you mean by "leave the children alone"? Do they do anything to "the children"? Quit those moronic accusations and don't tell people what to do. If I would address you as "doorknob" when you're a man, wouldn't you correct me? But don't worry, chances of you interaction with any of them are extremely slim. |
I just read the 'Frankie' character used to play 'Smackle' in "Girl Meets World". Who now identifies as a He/Them, but I see appropriating female roles is still fine. Confused much? |
Gender fluidness is a mystery to you? Hence the confusion. And what if an actor plays a part? Isn't that the job description? Seems to me you are confused. |
Well, if that's true, then a cis actor should also be Ok playing trans roles. right? |
Ever seen Tootsie, Dog Day Afternoon, The Day of the Locust, Life of Brian, Alien, Dressed to Kill, The World According to Garp? Just a few before the nineties of last century. Try to catch up on us in the 21st century. |
#4043 That's a non answer, we all know it was alright then (also blackface, yellowface and whatnot a while before). My question to you remains: Is it OK for a cis to play a trans role TODAY? Can you define what is a woman TODAY? Thanks |
Why would it not be okay? It's acting, you know, as in: adopting a character that is not you. Today, yesteryear, ever. Especially for you: A Good Man (2020), Space Sweepers (2021), West Side Story (2021), Anything's Possible (2022), Joyland (2022). Again, just a few. |
The question what a woman today is, should be addressed at Guest-1851. He/she/they raises doubt, |
You avoid logic, you give no answers, 1851 exposed the absurdity of all this, and the double standards as well, I have no more questions. |
I have logically, unequivocally and transparently answered your questions. You're welcome. The a;;edged absurdity and double standards are entirely in your head(s), as I have explained and illustrated. Again, you;re welcome. |
You asked is it okay, I said yes, it's okay, not only then but today as well. How is that "avoiding topics" and "not answering any questions"? Don't be like that. |
Sorry, your answer 3293 had not appeared yet when I said that, I regret my comment now. Still I think you're answer is 'fluid'? Noémie Merlant probably is cis playing a man, so that is a strong point for you... Then Eva Reign and Iris Menas are not cis, so they show the actual trend (point for me) Haven't seen the rest |
As soon as I saw the poster art and the screenshot, I got the vibe that the character Clawdeen Wold and her friends are LGQBT So I went GOOGLE and YUP, I AM CORRECT: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/07/lgbt-characters-nickelodeons-upcoming-monster-high-movie-introduce-using-pronouns-video/ https://lgbtqia-characters.fandom.com/wiki/Clawdeen_Wolf This TV movie is supposedly to be a Nickelodeon’s TV movie for kids. I wouldn't let my kids watch this because of the Lesbian vibe. |
Sure, you can't teach your kids soon enough how to be prejudiced, right? |
I agree with Jaxe. You can refer to yourself however you want, but don't expect other people to participate in your delusions. |
Yesterday I got the same vibes from the poster, so I did my own research and got to the same conclusions. |
Not being hetero is NOT a delusion. Your DNA is not a choice, so how could it possibly BE a delusion? Try to use tat single brain cell, please. |
And what when they are "LGQTB"? What when your children are? We do exist. We are part of this society just as much as you are. We don't dissolve into thin air when you ignore us. Learn to live WITH us instead of against us. It will make your life so much easier and certainly your children's. |
#1911 DNA is not a choice, I agree. Being hetero or not is your concern alone (That means who you love) I also agree. But then I don't follow your logic on the rest... #7411 was speaking of how anyone chooses to "refer" of themselves, and that's the area where it can be difficult to get others onboard (ie: pronouns) |
Please read 7414's post again. I think you missed a part. No one "expects other people to participate in their delusions" by producing a movie. It's not like compulsory to watch, is it? |
Why is that "difficult to get others on board"? When you strictly go by biological determinators, you have no problem with pronouns. But a human being is more than just a set of reproductive organs and all of a sudden you do have a problem with pronouns, even when a person tells you they would like to be addressed. |
I will respectfully call anyone by their chosen pronouns, but since that doesn't magically alter biology, I won't endorse men in women sports and things like that... #5430: There is a chance 7414 was speaking of real life in a broad sense, outside this particular movie. |
@Gurest-3654: Prejudism is generally directed toward a race or regional culture of people. LGBTQ is not a race or a regional culture. |
@Guest-2990: Prejudice is a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. Not necessarily "generally directed toward a race or regional culture of people", but that might well be your prejudice, of course. |
I am 1851, my OP was rhetorical. I am saying He/They are the one being an hypocrite(Pretty sure thats all the correct verbiage). |
Yes, Guest-6271 social constructs about gender identity do not change biology. Biology and sexual orientation are real, gender identity is not. |
Of course it is real. You are more than a sack of cells. And "that what makes it more" is what makes you "you". |
I just don't understand the appeal of Musicals. Seems like it would be a thing for Kids & not Adults. To each his / her own. |
Musicals are a genre by themselves. You might love or hate them but by no means they are only meant for kids. I mean, I wouldn't bring children to West Side Story, Chicago, Hamilton, Phantom of the Opera, The Man of La Mancha, etc. Fiddler on the Roof yes, that's universal in my book. |
I guess this might work better as animation than live action (Unless you spend a billion in FX) |
