Fletch was a series of books since at least the 70's not a Chevy Chase created role. Griping about no chase is like assuming Roger Moore wrote 007. You ignorance to the facts does not actually change reality as much as your ignorance would hope. Movie may be good or bad , I'm just pointing out Fletch wasn't created by Chevy any more than Ryan Reynolds created Deadpool. |
deadpool without Reynolds would be awful lol. you've GOT to find a better example |
Do they need to? They only produce what writers offer. Wouldn't it then be more accurate to claim that present day writers have no original bone in their body? |
Yeah well, I sent off an an original screenplay to all the major studios. It was about a girl breaking down only a lonely road and ending up at her dead gran's remote cabin which hid a deadly family secret Never heard back |
@Guest-3237, are you a member of the SWG? If you are not, they won't even look at your script. |
It's a joke, jaxe. Didn't get it? It was quite funny, really. |
@Superbikemike: But Jon Hamm? Really? That just doesn't fit, brother! |
not even a little clue how its done, who chooses who, or who writes the script none of it, i just know chevy had to sign off on it and wanted a redo thats about it,, from there i have no clue ... |
Uninspired, humourless, boring mess. Save the time which could be better spent watching paint dry. |
Saw the trailer and just no... all the scenes were written with chevy chase absurdity humor, jon hamm is wasted on this. |
How is this a reboot? It's a movie on the character Fletch, as developed by Gregory Mcdonald. Is every movie with Dracula an unnecessary reboot? Or with Sherlock Holmes or Superman? |
@Guest-3947 A reboot discards continuity to re-create its characters, plotlines and backstory from the beginning. It has been described as a way to "rebrand" or "restart an entertainment universe that has already been established". |
Sorry, Guest-1011, but the text you copied from Wikipedia is about ongoing series, not movies. A movie can't by definition be rebooted, it's merely a different adaptation of the same book. |
So you remember a movie from 40 years ago. There are a couple of generations born since then. Are they not allowed to have a Fletch of their own? They must watch that old hat which wasn't all too funny back then and certainly isn't today? You're old, we get it, but let youngsters have a life too. |
@Guest-2863. I'm so glad you like watching Hollywood ruin establish characters and not come up with anything original |
Yeah, and you can't be having comedy with Charlie Chaplin and Laurel & Hardy OK, I may be getting old but so what, aren't us old folk not allowed a decent comedy? |
Established characters? The only "established character" is the one in Mcdonald's books. Not Chevy Chase, not Hollywood. Do not take your stuck to be the norm for everyone. |
@Guest-2863: Chevy Chase wasn't funny? Those are fighting words. You better take them back! |
Okay, I'll admit, Chevy Chase may well be fun to the old, the very old. |
but you did have chevy he signed off on it, since he owns 20% of all the characters hes played he has the last word. and did you not expect a reboot even he said he did not do the part justice and martin short probably would have been better suited for the part he wanted fletch to continue just not with him .... |
p.s. i dont know if we will see it anytime soon, but him and dan also want to see another spys like us .. so expect it ... |
Guest-1020 - Sorry, I'll have to push the buzzer on that comment, pull the trap door, use the old hook to pull you off stage for that. Old or not, not very many people ever thought Chevy Chase was very funny. Dull, inept snap stick, situational comedy, usually, only appeals to the less educated, thick as a bricks. |
Guest-2863 - Thanks for your comment. Gave me a different perspective on remakes. Sometimes even the newer production technologies helps to deliver the story more effectively. The remake of King Kong is a good example of that. But also making it more in tune with the current generation or world events can help. |
